Berekum Chelsea striker Latif Salifu will require six months to regain full fitness after undergoing surgery on a knee injury.

The former Ghana U20 player, who suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury early this season, went under the knife two weeks ago.

If his recovery goes by plan, he should be available before the start of the 2014/15 First Capital Plus Premier League season.

"I have undergone the Surgery and I am beginning to feel a bit comfortable," Salifu told GHANASoccernet.com

"I should be kicking a ball in a couple of months time, in football you always feel sad when you are injured because you want to play. It’s a natural feeling.

"Doctors have given me six months to recover but if all things go well I could be back before then."

Salifu was a member of the Ghana U20 team which won the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup in Egypt.
