AshantiGold failed to reduce the point gap between them and leaders Kotoko after drawing 0-0 with Berekum Chelsea at the Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.

But Bashir Hayford's side have now jumped into second place with 27 points; seven less than Kotoko.

The Miners were widely tipped to win beat the Blues per their current performance but Chelsea fought strongly to secure a point.

AshantiGold created their chances in the game but failed to utilise them.

The Obuasi-based side end the first round of the season with seven wins; six draws and two defeats.
