Berekum Chelsea captain Mohammed Abdul Basit has expressed shock over his exclusion from Ghana's preliminary squad for the 2014 African Nations Championship finals.

The offensive midfielder, who played a bit-part role in the local Black Stars success at the recently held Wafu Nations Cup, was overlooked by head coach Maxwell Konadu.

Basit was on the verge of becoming one of the few players to play in back-to-back CHAN tournament after featuring at the last edition in Sudan 2011.

The 22-year-old has taken the snub in his strides and ready to move on.

"If I was to be part of the squad that played in the Wafu tournament. I played two matches out of the four matches and some didn't play at all," Basit told Joy FM.

"I wouldn't say something at all because the reason for playing is to earn greener pasture and not necessarily being in a squad like this even though it is going to take your status higher and that is going to market you very well when you are with the national team.

"I don't think all the players in the world passed through this channel before they became who they are.

"So whatever comes my way, if only I'm healthy, I will give thanks and Grace to God."
