Hearts of Oak coach David Duncan says the quality opposition presented by Berekum Chelsea brought the best out of his players.

The Phobians ran riot to beat the 2011 Ghana Premier League champions 3-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts could have even scored more had they made good use of the numerous chances that came their way on Sunday.

The win however excited the Hearts fans including their usually immotive coach Duncan who was seen celebrating by punching the air on the touchline.

Duncan says his team played their best game so far due to the quality opposition of Berekum Chelsea on the day.

“It was quite a tough game from my perspective on the touchline,” he said.

“If you are playing against a team like Chelsea whom we all can testify to the fact that I think they are on song – a team that has just gone through Champions League experience and lying on top of the domestic league certainly is not a team you can take for granted.

“So playing a team like that certainly in my opinion is one of the impetus that will also bring the best out of my boys because the kind of training regime that I put them through is normally teaching the best against the best from within.

“A lot of times ironically we tend to struggle when we don’t get the kind of opposition that matches the kind of quality we play together at training.

“So playing against Berekum Chelsea for us, in my opinion is the best game we have played yet because they are a very good side, a very competitive side, a very motivated side and in my opinion that was what brought the best out of my players.

“I mean they just were on top in almost all the components of the game. Physically they were present, technically they were astute, tactically they were aware and then mentally I think that they were up to scratch and that is why we were able to in my opinion dominate and post three goals past them.”

Hearts are now 7th in the Ghanaian top flight but are just a point away from a top four place with four matches left.

The Phobians will next travel to Wa to face All Stars.
