Defender Joseph Musonda insists Zambia will beat Ghana in Kumasi despite the return of big name players Michael Essien, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Andre Ayew.
The Black Stars are at full strength with the return of these players from full and semi retirements.
The returning trio join a host of established Ghana players for the deciding Group D qualifier for next year’s World Cup in Brazil.
The Black Stars only have to avoid defeat at home to progress in the qualifiers while their opponents – the Chipolopolo must win this game to secure progress of their own.
But with Ghana at full strength with the return of these key players, Zambia’s already slim chances of securing a highly unexpected win over Ghana in Kumasi appears to be fast diminishing.
But defender Musonda remains confident his side who have beaten Ghana in their last two meetings can repeat the doze over the Black Stars.
“Ghana is under pressure and we are going to Kumasi to beat them. I can assure Zambians that we will qualify to the last round and to the World Cup finals,” he said.
“We just need to qualify for the World Cup and we are ready for Ghana.”
Zambia will be camping in Johannesburg to finalize preparations towards the game before arriving in Ghana next week for the match on September 6.
