Bawumia Insults Veep

Posted On Thursday, 17th May 2012

General News of Wednesday, 16 May 2012Source: DailypostDr. Mahamadu Bawumia, Running Mate to Akufo-Addo in
this December’s election virtually insulted Vice-President John Mahama at New
Tafo Zongo in the Eastern Region last Saturday when he described him as a man
who is not a true northerner.
Obviously learning the ethnic and religious bigotry
of the NPP at a very fast pace, Bawumia told his shocked listeners that the
Vice President, who hails from Bole in Gonja land in the Northerner Region is
not a true northerner because he is not a Muslim.
These pronouncements from the Former Deputy Governor
of the Bank of Ghana shocked his discerning listeners and left them wondering
whether he is a true son of his father, the late Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia, a
Former member of the Council of State in the Rawlings Administration.
Mahamadu Bawumia and his boss, Akufo-Addo, were in
the Abuakwa-North constituency where NPP supporters are deserting the party in
droves to pitch camp with Ambassador Victor Smith who is contesting to become
Member of Parliament for the seat on the ticket of the NDC.
Speaking after Akufo-Addo had spoken, Bawumia told
the residents of the Tafo Zongo Community that a vote for Akufo Addo in the
December elections is a vote for Islam because he is a Muslim unlike John
Mahama.
His comments are said to have left the people in
shock as they question if the December election is about religion or the
ability to improve the living condition of the people.
The NPP Running-Mate did not make his dangerous religious bias
comment and uncalled for attack on Vice-President John Mahama out of the blue; he
obviously took
inspiration from Akufo-Addo, who, talking to the people earlier, told them that
it was important for them not to vote for President Mills and John Mahama
because the two are Christians.
Akufo-Addo said if he and Bawumia are voted into
power, while he would take the Presidential oath with a bible, Bawumia will do
same with a Koran whereas President Mills and John Mahama will do so with only
the bible.
This latest religious bigotry displayed by the two
leading men of the NPP and the unwarranted attack on John Mahama is still the
talk of New Tafo Zongo with many wondering what Ghana will come to if the
destiny of the country is entrusted into the hands of the two.
