Balotelli’s mum working as £6-an-hour office cleaner

Posted On Monday, 16th July 2012

Balotelli's mother

Multimillionaire footballer Mario Balotelli’s mother has got a new job as a cleaner at an office block to make ends meet.

Rose Barwuah is scraping a living doing evening shifts at the offices of a car lease company for close to the 6 pound-an-hour minimum wage.

While the Man City star drives to work in his 120,000-pound Bentley Continental GT, Rose Barwuah’s more modest mode of transport is the Number 11 bus.

Barwuah and her husband Thomas, who are from Ghana, gave Mario up for adoption when he was two and he was taken in by the wealthy Balotelli family.

They had been advised to give him up because they were living in a tiny flat in Brescia, Italy, and Mario had a life-threatening intestinal condition that was made worse by their cramped conditions.

Barwuah moved to the Manchester area last Christmas to be close to the 120,000 pound-a-week striker.

She lives on an estate in Wythenshawe, which was used to film ‘Shameless,’ the Channel 4 comedy about families living on the dole in council houses.

The Italian striker has visited her there several times, stunning residents by turning up his white Bentley.

“A lot of people on the estate who know who her famous son is can’t quite believe she is working as a cleaner. It is a bit odd that while he is polishing his Premier League winner’s medal she is polishing desks,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

“Mario has been round the house, sometimes with his brother Enoch. It is a real sight to see his white Bentley parked up outside. It was a surprise to see Rose rock up on this estate when he is earning millions of pounds and lives in a huge house in Alderley Edge.

“But fair play to Rose, she has got on with things and is willing to graft for not a lot of money. Apparently she does not want any of Mario’s money. It looks like she is settled here and is here to stay,” the source added.

I don’t think she’s not getting from Balotelli. For real I think this dude is giving her some cash if not then he’s heartless for doing that to his own blood
    God bless!!

  2. KT says:

Well, at least she makes ends meet.

  3. Boas tutu says:

Thats how Ghananias players are. They forget their parents when they make it. Take a look at these black star plays how most of them have neglected their parents.

  4. Kuuku, Berlin says:

Our mothers are normally not after their childrens’ money or wealth. They are satisfied with the little they get to survive! For those who think this woman just gave up her son, ask yourselves, why didn’t she also give up her other children? The circumstances forced her to act in the best interest of the “kid”! Those of us who have been long in Europe know how easy these so-called foster parents manipulate and indoctrinate children who are given TEMPORARILY into their care! That is the “Balotelli” case! The fact that he is now a “star” is the result of his parent’s decision under the advice of the italian authorities to give him to the “foster parents” for better living conditions! As a matter of fact his real parents MADE HIM A STAR! He should be thankful to them , rather than despicing them!!! His mother has other children , who care for her and she has already got her reward, because thru her action , her “kid” has survived to become “somebody”. It is not the “kid’s” money or wealth, she is satisfied that he is alive and kicking, that is the dream of every loving mother, AND BALOTELLI’S MOTHER IS A LOVING MOTHER!!!

    Balotelli has a bad attitude

  6. The DON says:

It is their business, and nobody else’s business…Ghanaians should focus on their on problems and stop this Mario/KPB nonsense!!! get a life!!!

  7. Fresher says:

I can’t blame Super Mario for his lack of “emotional attachment and feeling” towards Barwuah family, because he was brought up by some people whom are not biologically connected to him in a way that he will not be sensitive to his fellow human being’s emotions and plight. His biological (real) parents should not despair and never give up the hope of a possibility that one day he will change his mind and come back to their fold. Barwuah should embrace Super Mario not just as a prodigal son nor a wealthy football celebrity but as a son who has a passion and respect for the family whom he shares the same DNA with and a son whom in his veins runs through that uncontaminated red Ghanaian blood of Thomas and Rose Barwuah.

  8. bbc says:

I think everything happens for a reason and i think Mario should also thank his parents for giving him up to a wealthy family. Even though we don’t support their thinking but perhaps if they have kept him in that poor living condition he wouldn’t have been a football star today. He needs to forgive, support, and visit Ghana with them.

  9. under says:

And so wat?do we know how much ur mum earns?why re u mendling in someone elses family affair.its Balos money n he decides wat 2 do wit it.

  10. COCONUTHEAD says:

Thank you, DON, you said it all.

  11. Wise words. says:

Well said Kuuku Berlin. U know things would have been vice versa if he wasn’t adopted? Mr. N Mrs Barwuah made a right decision to safe his life. If that decision wasn’t taken, who knows, he could be dead by now. And those fake ass zambians who r using Names like DON and Coconut Head. I say u gay guys can go to hell! Fucking Zombies!

  12. Tiger year says:

There is a saying that if someone feeds you to grow your teeth, you must feed him/her to lose his/her teeth. Balotelli must feeds the one who fed him to grow his teeth. He must change his bad attitude

  13. Oppong says:

Hmmmm! This is no news koraa! I think it will be better if you publish things which will benefit us as ghanaians. THANK YOU!

  14. Ali in nigeria says:

Please this isnot a sports news.

  15. Joel says:

Is this soccer news or what? Who cares what the woman does for living. You guys are fools for making this a sport. We don’t have to read it here because Dailyrecord in UK wrote about this. Why don’t you write about your President Mills also if you have nothing good to report on your website. Give my message to Ghanaweb.com too. Fools!!!
