BA United skipper Lawrence Osei has rubbished claims his teammates are betting away their Premier League matches.

Interim coach Mohammed Gargo accused his players of engaging in match-fixing which is being influenced by sport betting.

The wild allegation has sparked massive controversy in the club with fears it could crumble team unity.

But United captain Lawrence Osei has poured cold water on the claims, insisting they are well wide off the mark.

“The supporter, who spoke (made the allegation), was holding an egg that he was going to curse any of the players who is going to place a bet against the team,” he told Accra-based Starr FM

“After Sunday’s match, Mr. Mohammed Gargo said he is convinced what the supporters are saying are true but I am not sure our players will bet against the team be it a home or away match.

“But it’s not true. I don’t think any player will do that to destroy the club. This kind of allegation has the propensity to tarnish the image of the club.”

Mohammed Gargo has abandoned the club and says he will only return if he gets express powers to make drastic changes at the club.
