The Ghana FA says the trio of Andre and Jordan Ayew as well as Kevin-Prince Boateng must officially communicate their return to the Black Stars before they are considered for selection in future matches.
The three players wrote to the GFA to announce their decisions to leave the national team and have since changed their minds but as they have not officially written to renounce their decisions, they are still unavailable for international football.
The trio recently expressed their desire of returning to the national team but the Ayew brothers and Kevin-Prince Boateng were excluded from the Black Stars latest squad to face Turkey next week which has raised some concerns.
The BBC has reported that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will not call up the trio until they have officially informed their clubs that they have come out of international retirement.
Jordan and Andre Ayew both play for French side Marseille, while Kevin-Prince Boateng is at Italian giants AC Milan.
The Ayews turned their backs on Ghana in February claiming they have a row with the Black Stars management, a claim the management denies.
Boateng retired from international duty in November 2011 claiming his body could not cope with club and international football.
But all three players have recently indicated they want to end their self-imposed international exiles and make themselves available again for the Black Stars.
However, the GFA does not want a conflict with the trio's clubs and will not request their release for international duty until each player formally notifies their employers and the GFA of their decision to be available for the country.
It means that coach Kwesi Appiah will have to wait for their return and he has been forced to overlook them for Wednesday's match at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
The request is similar to what Asamoah Gyan did when he ended his self-imposed exile from Ghana's national team.
He wrote a letter to the GFA to make himself available for international football. (Click on the link to read the letter on Asamoah Gyan.
