With the Flying Eagles set to face the Black Satellites of Ghana in one of the semi-final matches of the ongoing Africa Youth Championship, technical committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation, Garba Lawal has predicted a tough match ahead.
The Nigerians, top of group A with seven points will face their Ghanaian counterparts who finished second in group B with six points.
Both countries played two friendly matches against each other before the competition â⬓ the first ending in a 2-2 draw â⬓ while Nigeria won the second 2-0.
And also given the rivalry between both countries over the years, Lawal believes it will be a tough one.
ââ¬ÅIt will be a tough one and Iââ¬â¢m sure the teams know this,â⬠he said. ââ¬ÅItââ¬â¢s not just for Nigeria; it is the same for the Ghanaian team as well.
ââ¬ÅThey are both strong teams and they know this will be a tough game and given our history, I wouldnââ¬â¢t expect anything less.ââ¬
Speaking further, Lawal also advised against judging the Flying Eagles solely on the 2-2 draw with Ivory Coast.
ââ¬ÅWe have seen that we have a very strong team and they shouldnââ¬â¢t be judged solely on that game against Cote Dââ¬â¢ Ivoire. Theyââ¬â¢ve shown how good they are and I think they can go all the way,â⬠he added.
