Ghana defender Awal Mohammed is hoping for an injury-free weekend for his international teammates who have been invited for next month’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Coach Kwesi Appiah has named a 24-man squad for games against Uganda and Togo.

Appiah has however been forced to make one change due to an injury to FC Porto defender Daniel Opare who has since been replaced by Yaw Frimpong who plays for Congolese giants TP Mazembe.

Awal Mohammed who is making a return to the team after missing out on the 2014 World Cup prays no more forced changes are made through injury with most of the players in action for their respective clubs this weekend.

"We will be playing some matches before traveling to Ghana for the games," he told Hot FM.

"Therefore it is important that we stay fit after playing the games for our clubs.

"That is what I hope and pray happens so everyone invited will arrive safe and very fit to help the nation."

Ghana will host Uganda in their opening qualifier on September 5 before making the short trip to face neighbours Togo five days later.
