Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi says it will be unrealistic and unfair for new coach Avram Grant to win the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations or face dismissal.

Nyantakyi insists that even though the target is winning the tournament in Equatorial Guinea, to sack the coach who will work to rebuild the squad as he take over just before the tournament starts would be unfair.

Grant’s appointment was confirmed on Thursday at a press conference after an Executive Committee meeting.

The former Chelsea manager has signed a 27-month contract and will officially take charge of the team on 01 December, 47 days to the start of the Nations Cup finals in Equatorial Guinea.

There have been calls for a clause to be inserted in his contract asking him to be sacked if he fails to win the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations which kicks off in just under two months.

Nyantakyi says sacking the coach who will take charge of the team on the eve of the tournament would be unfair as they are seeking to rebuild the squad since a disastrous outing at the World Cup.

“Grant needs time to know the players very well so we can’t ask him to win the Nations Cup. That would be unrealistic,” Nyantakyi said at a press conference on Thursday.

"As we all know things did not go well at the World Cup and we are seeking to rebuild the squad. To be realistic and fair as we are keen on the title but lets remember that he takes over just before the start of the tournament."

Media report claim Grant will receive a monthly salary of US$ 50,00 and signing on fee of US$ 200,000.
