Avram Grant lands bumper deal to become new coach of Ghana - report
Avram Grant will be the next Ghana coach

Avram Grant will be handed £130,000 as his signing-on fee and £30,000 monthly salary to become coach of the Black Stars, according to a report in an English newspaper.

The 59-year-old is expected to be unveiled as the new coach of Ghana by next week after a reported agreement with the Ghana FA.

The Daily Mail has reported that the former Chelsea boss will be handed a hefty £130,000 signing-on fee plus a monthly wage of £30,000.

The Ghana FA has had to engage Grant in deep negotiations to beat down his demands which was reportedly in the region of $100,000 as his monthly wage – a report the Grant camp have refuted.

A deal is now reportedly in place to make the former Chelsea boss the substantive replacement of Kwesi Appiah who was sacked in September.

The Israeli was required to return to Ghana last week not only to agree to financial terms but to also deal with issues bothering on his nationality.

Grant, will be refused entry into parts of North Africa and in the Arab world due to his nationality as an Israeli.

This problem, Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi however says, will be solved soon to clear the path for an official unveiling of Avram Grant as the new coach of the Black Stars.

“The holder of an Israeli passport will not only be denied entry into North African countries, he will be denied into some Arab countries,” Nyantekyie told BBC Sport.

“He has brought an alternative way of dealing with it. There is a satisfactory arrangement to arrest his threat.

“Very soon, in a matter of months, we should clear that.”

Grant will be tasked to halt and overturn what appears to be the down sliding form of the Black Stars since their disastrous outing at the 2014 World Cup.
