Baba Abdul Rahman has been an instant hit with Augsburg this season

German club Augsburg have threatened to report the Ghana FA to FIFA for the late return of Baba Abdul Rahman from last month’s international assignments.

The 20-year-old who appears to have clinched a starting place in the Black Stars line up reported back to his club late after featuring in games against Guinea in the 2015 AFCON qualifiers.

Augsburg have blamed their 2-1 defeat to Mainz immediately after the international break on the late arrival of their key defender who was considered too tired to start the game.

The club’s General Manager Stefan Reuter now says the club is considering a petition to FIFA to compel clubs to return players from the international break on time.

“It is extremely annoying for us. [It is] the association’s duty to ensure that players return back to their clubs on time,” Stefan Reuter said.

“Now, we have to look at what to do – to ask FIFA to help by putting pressure on Football Associations in a reminder to ensure that players quickly return to their clubs [after international breaks].”

Baba Rahman is expected to be named in Ghana’s squad for next month’s final round of 2015 AFCON qualifiers against Uganda and Togo.
