Christian Atsu in on cloud nine
Christian Atsu is not getting carried away after impressing heavily in his first competitive start for Ghana in the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi.
The 20-year-old was the toast of fans with some swash buckling display against The Flames at the Accra Sports stadium.
The Porto left winger opened the scoring for the West African heavyweights in the 8th minute with a cool tap-in from close range before midfielder Anthony Annan sealed victory with a stupendous shot in the second half.
Atsu has come in for massive praise for his individual brilliance on the day but the former Rio Ave playmaker is not allowing the plaudits to get to him.
“It is team work and that’s what is important. I don’t believe I have arrived yet. I am very yound and has a great future ahead of me,” Atsu said
“It is not about me. It is about the collective effort of the team. We managed to beat them 2-0 and hopefully we can kill of the game in the return leg,”
“I will just urge Ghanaians to continue to pray and support us and I believe we will make them happy.”
The return leg is scheduled to take place in Blantyre on October 13 with the winner qualifying to the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa.
Good perfoemance but i think he play well in the middle just behind the strikers and Kwadwo Asamoah takes his position to get the best of the two players.
I pray u play an injury free soccer and hopefully seeing ur name in the worlds best player nomination 2014. Ami
WE ARE SOLOLY BEHIND U IN PRAYERS,GO BLAK STARS,GO HIGH ABOVE D SKY.
We should praise them all, it’s a collective effort that gave us the win. We should learn to encourage all our boys. What we need now is UNITY in the team for great reults as more talented players are coming through the ranks. Very soon Akwasi Appiah will find it very difficult to select the best eleven.
Please, pray for Ghana.
