Porto midfielder Christian Atsu
Porto midfielder Christian Atsu has returned to training with the first team ahead of Saturday’s crucial clash with Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese top-flight.
The Ghana international was ruled out last week’s league match against his former side Rio Ave because of a thigh injury.
Atsu returned to training on Tuesday where he trained alone but he has been made to join the squad ahead of the key match.
The hugely-talented player suffered an adductor muscle injury in his left thigh but has fully recovered to be available for head coach Vitor Pereira.
He was impressive as a second half substitute in the 1-0 win over Malaga in the UEFA Champions League round 16 first leg tie in midweek.
The winger has been impressive since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Atsu has made 11 appearances for Porto this term and scored one goal.
He played last season on loan at Rio Ave where he was named Player of the Year.
