AshantiGold CEO Kudjoe Fianoo has confirmed to GHANASoccernet.com that the monthly US$ 50,000 it receives from the mining firm AngloGold Ashanti has been cut by 50 percent.

The Obuasi-based side receive the financial support as part of the mining company’s corporate social responsibility.

This is due to the recent economic hardship in the country which forced the Mining company to temporarily shut down its entire underground operations.

“It’s true we have been informed that the monthly US$ 50,000 we receive from AngloGold Ashanti to run the club will be reduced to US$ 25,000," Fianoo told GHANASoccernet.com.

“But my brother how many clubs in Ghana get U$ 25,000 monthly to run a club.

“We are not bothered at all. We understand their stand and considering that even the cushion given the school and hospital have all been cut down.”

AshantiGold finish fourth last season and will be looking to build on that this term.
