AshantiGold striker Emmanuel Baffour has lauded the effort of his teammates after a hard fought 1-0 win over Asante Kotoko in their GHALCA Top 4 opener at the Baba Yara Stadium.

A solitary goal from Francis Adjei ensured Kotoko succumbed to defeat at their own back yard.

Kotoko now face a daunting task of overturning the deficit in the return leg on Wednesday to stand a chance of progressing to the final.

Experienced goalkeeper Robert Dabou pulled off a fabulous save in the dying minutes of the game to protect the score line.

Baffour, a former Ghana Premier League goal king, praised his teammates for their all hands on deck approach.

“The entire team has done well. We gave our all and held off a strong opponent,” he said.

“The team has been trying out new ways in preseason and I think it’s beginning to replay.

“Hopefully we can build on from here.”
