Fatawu Dauda has joined South African club Orlando Pirates

AshantiGold chief Kudjo Fianoo is backing departing goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda to excel at his new club; Orlando Pirates.

The first choice Black Stars goalkeeper sealed a three-year move to the South African giants last month.

The 27-year-old has been a consistent performer in the Ghanaian top flight since joining AshGold in 2006.

And despite the failure of Ghanaian goalkeepers to make the grade on their travels abroad, Fianoo is backing Duada to be an instant hit at Orlando Pirates.

“I think he will do very well. He is the current no.1 for the Black Stars,” he said.

“Fatawu (Dauda) is the type that will do well anywhere in this world and I believe he will do very well in South Africa.”

Dauda attracted interest from several clubs after his heroics for Ghana at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Orlando Pirates however emerged the side that matched the financial demands of AshantiGold to secure the serviced of Ghana’s first choice goalkeeper.
