AshantiGold CEO Kudjoe Fianoo is counting on new signing Emmanuel Baffour to power their First Capital Plus Premier League charge this season.

The Miners signed the 2011/2012 Premier League goal-king, who parted ways with South African Premier League side Mamelodi Sundowns, on a free transfer.

Baffour scored 21 goals for New Edubiase United to become the league’s top scorer.

Fianoo believes the return of Baffour as made his side genuine title contenders.

“Our supporters have been without the title for 18 years. We have placed second twice and been in the top four on a few other occasions. But with the introduction of Baffour into our attacking department, the sky will be the limit,” Fianoo is quoted by the Graphic Sports.

“Even though we trail leaders Kumasi Asante Kotoko by seven points, the title race is far from over. “People doubt our credentials but we all played the first round before Kotoko took that lead. In the same manner, Baffour and his team-mates can close the gap and win the title. We are still on course.”
