AshantiGold have rejected a Ghana Football Association request to represent the country in the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Obuasi-based side were asked by the Ghana FA to replace Inter Allies who withdrew their participation citing the lack of cash.

But the 1995 CAF Champions League runners-up have ruled themselves out to bail out the association.

“The board has told management there is no money to finance the trip to Africa which is very expensive,” the club’s PRO Kofi Yawson told GHANASoccernet.com.

AshantiGold reached the semi-final of the 2013/2014 MTN FA Cup but forfeited their clash with eventual winners Asante Kotoko.
