Fatau Dauda being mobbed by fans at Nsoatre in the Brong Ahafo Region

Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda was mobbed by fans after Ashantigold’s goalless draw at Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.

Students of Sacred Heart Senior High School in Nsoatre in the Brong Ahafo Region couldn’t get enough of the 27-year-old as they clamoured to catch a glimpse of him when news of his arrival got to them.

The former Okwahu United shot-stopper was travelling back to Obuasi with his teammates after their game against Chelsea.

The popularity of the Ashantigold custodian has risen beyond unimaginable proportions after his heroic displays for the Black Stars at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Widely expected to be a third choice behind Adam Kwarasey and Daniel Agyei, he surpassed expectations when he moved ahead in the pecking order to emerge the first-choice goalkeeper at the continental showpiece where he shone.

But he couldn’t save us against Burkina Faso, he could have been a hero if had prevented the goal by BANCE or stopped two PK’s. He is not there yet, Ghana loves to worships mediocre.
