AshantiGold striker Yakubu Mohammed
By Ameenu Shardow
AshantiGold are listening to offers from unnamed clubs in Turkey and Tunisia for striker Yakubu Mohammed.
The 23-year-old is being chased by several clubs both home and abroad after putting in consistent displays in the Ghanaian top flight right from last season.
Mohammed has just had a bid from giants Asante Kotoko rejected by his club who are reluctant to sell to a rival club.
He has already scored seven goals in the fourteen league games played so far this term and the club has now confirmed he is likely to be sold abroad but not until the end of the season.
“There are clubs in Turkey and Tunisia who have also expressed interest in him and it is possible he will go outside after the season ends,” AshGold’s Chief Executive Kudjoe Fianoo said.
“Yakubu is a very level headed boy who is in no rush as he seeks to win the goal king race in this season’s league which will shoot up his price for a better deal.”
Mohammed was the second top scorer in last season’s Ghana Premier League with a haul of 14 goals.
