Ashantigold Chief Executive Kudjoe Fianoo has threatened legal action against any proposed move to increase the number of Premier League teams to 18.

The former Ghana League Club administrative secretary is angry with attempts to increase the number as a way of finding an amicable solution to the legal tussle which has delayed the start of the country’s football activities.

The club’s umbrella body tabled a motion to increase the league to 18 at an emergency meeting on Tuesday but the move has been vehemently opposed by a number of the clubs including giants Hearts of Oak.

The Ashantigold Chief Executive says any attempts to increase the number will incur his wrath.

“It’s absolutely out of the question. I don’t understand why anybody will even come up with such an idea,” he fumed on Happy FM

“Where was GHALCA when injustice was perpetrated on Ashgold some years ago?

“Where was GHALCA when Ashgold was treated like a colts like in this country?. They should not dare me”

“I’m ready to take them to court if they go ahead with the plan. It’s against the rules of the Ghana FA and we’ll resist it with all the arsenal that we have.

“They should look at a better way of addressing the issue rather than league expansion. That will not solve the problem as it will open the FA up for more legal suit.

There is no sight in end for the legal battle between King Faisal and the Ghana FA putting the calendar of both the federation and the clubs into disarray.

Clubs have started complaining bitterly about the financial burden which has been brought due to the delay in the start of the top-flight league.
