Posted On Monday, 20th August 2012

Rashid Sumaila

Ebusua Dwarfs defender Rashid Sumaila has joined Asante Kotoko, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal.

The 19-year-old joins the Premier League champions on a season-long loan deal-ending weeks of speculation surrounding his transfer.

Sumaila was also targeted by by giants Hearts of Oak after failing to secure a move to Moroccan champions Moghreb Tetouan.

Hearts missed out on signing the highly-rated centre-back because of his exorbitant transfer fee.

“I can confirm to you that Rashid Sumaila has joined Asante Kotoko,” Dwarfs chairman Nana Aidoo told MTNFootball.com.

“It is a one year loan agreement of which we believe serves the interest of all parties involved.”

The financial details of the agreement are yet to be disclosed.

Sumaila is expected to fill the void created in Kotoko’s defence following the sale of Awal Mohammed to South African club Maritzburg United.

You can sign the best players in the whole wide word but Champions league will make you Were dodge

  10. Fresher says:

Well, half a loaf is better than none at all. I hope Kotoko will have the first option of tying him down after the loan deal or Kotoko will benefit financially from his onward transfer to any foreign country. @ Seth-: your comments can be interpreted in every measure to “SOUR GRAPES”. I think your advice will be better heared if it had been directed at the Hearts of Oaks management and recruitment committee to better acquire the services of players in the calibre of Rashid Sumaila for even half a season than signing injury-prone players, and those sort of “THE SOUL IS WILLING BUT THE BODY IS WEAK” players. We welcome Rashid Sumaila to Kotoko with widely open accommodating hearts.

  11. Papasi says:

  13. Adu says:

Rashid played well 2 seasons ago, wat was his contribution to dwarfs last season? De fact dat we need rashid doesnt mean we shd spend all our money on him, y shd we pay abt GhC300m for a loaned player..kotoko will never learn
