Asante Kotoko plan sale of striker Nti-Boakye

Asante Kotoko striker Kofi Nti-Boakye

Asante Kotoko are on the verge of selling striker Kofi Nti-Boakye to an unnamed European club, reports gaining grounds in the local media suggests.

News of the sale of the 25-year-old has infuriated the club supporters especially the ones situated around the club’s base in Kumasi.

Officials of Kotoko are said to have approached second tier club Deportivo for a replacement for the ex Liberty Professionals player.

Club supporters are however unhappy with the intention to sell Nti-Boakye especially with their ambition of winning all three competitions they are currently involved in.

Kotoko have made an impressive start to the CAF Champions League while well in touching distance of current Premier League leaders Medeama SC.

They are also expected to make significant strides in the MTN FA Cup competition.

The team has already lost their best player Daniel Adjei and right-back Yaw Frimpong to TP Mazembe.

They have also center back Rashid Sumaila (at Kotoko on loan from Ebusua Dwarfs) to South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.

And the fans believe a further sale of their best players will weaken their team for the games ahead.

Some countries in Europe are set to open their transfer window despite the general closure of the secondary window in mainstream Europe.

This news comes just off the heels of an agreement to send defender Gideon Baah on loan to an unnamed Finish club.

Ooooh krobea Asante kotoko, so can’t we use some of the numerous sponsership packages monies to cater for our players wages or better still secure one paticular sponser to help maintain our squad for atleast 5years. This system of selling our best players can never conquer african on less Dr. K. K. Sarpong’s administration has lost sight of the fact that we want to win a silverware in Africa.

  2. kofi says:

Please let’s be fair to ourselves. which club in Ghana can pay a player at least 2000 euros not even a week but a month? And which player in Ghana will reject such an offer bearing in mind that there is no financial security after his playing career. I don’t blame the players neither will I blame the management but our economy. (Please not economy as in Ghanaian politics).

  3. Dr Who says:

@Kofi,the issue is the timing of the sale of players.

    • kofi says:

@Dr Who, yes the timing is wrong for fans and management but does the player and his family see it that way? The answer is no. Let’s put ourselves in the players situation and what would have been our responses?

  4. Kwadwo Addai says:

GSN, jst raw piece. Be specific pls, u’re jst inciting fans with no grounds. Apuuu t)))

  5. Pillar says:

Folks, please just allow the player to ply his trade abroad because Ghana’s economy is now non-sustaining. Which one of you will hinder his sibling when an opportunity presents itself to play in Europe. Mind you, whilst football is a game to you supporters, it is also a career to Kofi Nti and other players so please allow him to go, period.

  6. Jak says:

Dey can sell de whole team to de europeans, who cares?
