Asamoah: Plotting Schalke's downfall

Greuther Furth striker Gerald Asamoah has a dream which he hopes Schalke’s fans will forgive him for having if it comes true this weekend.

The former Germany international spent most of his career with the Royal Blues, making 259 appearances and scoring 43 goals to earn hero status among their fans.

However, he is now plotting their downfall as a Furth player, and he has already imagined how he will do it.

“I am going to come on in the 75th minute with the score at 1-1,” he said.

“In stoppage time, I am going to head in the winning goal for Furth from Bernd Nehrig’s cross. I am sure the real Schalke fans would be happy for me.”

After Saturday’s match, Asamoah would be pleased if Schalke went on to win the league and Furth stay up as he has a lot of affection for both clubs.

“I moved to Schalke as a 20-year-old and experienced all of the highs and lows there,” he explained at a press conference.

“Even today I still have a lot of contact with them. Of course I am particularly looking forward to this game.”
