Asamoah Gyan's impact wins manager Olaroiu new Al-Ain deal

Posted On Saturday, 15th September 2012

Asamoah Gyan in action for Al Ain last season

Asamoah Gyan’s impressive debut season for Al-Ain in the UAE Pro League has earned manager Cosmin Olaroiu a new one-year extension deal.

The Ghana striker, signed from English Premiership side Sunderland, won the league top scorer gong after netting 22 times from 18 games.

Gyan’s impressive cameos in the league heralded Ain to their 10th historic league crown and their first league triumph since the 2003/04 season.

Cosmin Olaroiu, a 43-year-old Romanian tactician, has been rewarded with a new one-year-deal and he will remain at the Tahnoun Bin Mohamed Stadium until 2014.

Ain are in Spain for a pre-season tour and they lost narrowly to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid by 1-0.

Gyan will be key for Olaroiu in Monday’s Super Cup clash against Al Jazira at Zabeel Stadium.
