Asamoah Gyan scores tenth goal in five matches in UAE

Asamoah Gyan scored for Al Ain last night in the UAE Etisalat Pro League

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has taken his goals tally to ten in five matches after scoring in the UAE top-flight on Monday night.

The Black Stars captain scored during their 2-2 draw against giants Al Jazira to maintain his place as the league second highest scorer so far this season one behind Brazilian leader Grafite.

Gyan scored from the spot to give the visitors the lead just before half-time and Jires Kembo Ekoko added the second after the break.

The Boss’ attacking quartet of Gyan, Alex Brosque, Ekoko and Omar Abdulrahman immediately set about causing the home defence problems with their intelligent and incisive running.

Accuracy was all that denied Gyan on the half-hour mark as he bore down on goal but as the clock ticked towards half-time it seemed to be getting comfortable for Jazira.

That was until the stroke of half-time when Broque played in Ekoko who drew a foul from Masoud inside the area.

Gyan stepped up from 12 yards to slot home and send the large travelling support delirious.

The Ghanaian thought he had made it 3-1 in the 74th minute as he followed up to tap home a Radoi free kick only to be denied by an offside flag.

The momentum of the contest had now shifted but for all Jazira’s possession, they lacked width and were struggling to craft any clear-cut openings.

Indeed the Boss were happy to play on the break and could have scored a third had Gyan or Helal Saeed made the most of presentable openings.

The match was played in front of a crowd of 19,765 – by far the biggest in the Pro League this season.

  1. GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

graphite is a very good STRIKER. THE DIFERENCE BETWEEN GYAN AND GRAPHITE IS THIS. GRAPHITE KNOWS WHAT HE IS GOING TO DO BEFORE HE DOES IT. HE IS AN EFFORTLESS STRIKER. HE KNOWS WHERE TO POSITION HIMSELF TO COLLECT A PASS AND SCORE. THE GUY IS ONE CUNNING MODAFUCKER…LOL, HE MAKES SCORING LOOK EASY. PLUS, UNLIKE GYAN, GRAPHITE LOVES TO LIFT METAL. GYAN ON THE PTHER HAND WORKS TOO HARD TO SCORE. HE WILL SINGLE HANDEDLY TAKE ON 1, 2 PLAYERS. HE WILL DELIBERATELY GO IN AND GET FOULED SO HE CAN GET A PENALTY ETC. GYAN FORCES THE ISSUE. HE NEEDS TO WATCH GRAPHITE AND LEARN A THING OR TWO FROM THAT GUY. IF GYAN IS ABLE TO LEARN FROM GRAPHITE, GYAN WILL BE THE BEST,MOST COMPLETE STRIKER IN THE SAUDI LEAGUE….
