Hundreds of people have thronged the family residence of Asamoah Gyan to mark the one-week celebration of his late mother.

Mrs Cecilia Gyan, 60, died through a motor accident on Tuesday November 6 in Accra.

Ghana FA vice-president Fred Crentsil led a high-powered delegation from the Association that included Premier League Board Chairman, Welbeck Abra-Appiah and member of the Executive Committee Moses Armah to pay their respect to the deceased.

Members of the  Ghana National Supporters Union (GHANSU) are also present at the ceremony.

Veteran actors Agya Afari (Katawere) and Paa George are among the mourners.

Gyan was in the company of his two brothers Baffour and Opoku as well as their father Mr Gyan.

“I am overwhelmed with the kind of support that have been shown to me and my family and I really appreciate it,” a sorrowful Gyan told GHANAsoccernet.com

Ghana President John Mahama is expected to arrive later on Tuesday to show solidarity with the bereaved Al Ain striker.
