Asamoah Gyan says he is 'honoured' to be handed the Black Stars armband

Top striker Asamoah Gyan says landing Ghana’s captain armband permanently is a ‘great honour’.
The 26-year-old has been appointed as the substantive captain of the Black Stars for his work ethics and incredible leadership qualities.
The Al Ain attacker who takes over the armband from veteran John Mensah captained the team to qualify to the 2013 African Cup of Nations after beating Malawi over two-legs.
The in-form goal poacher has expressed his pride at being selected to captain the team and looks ahead to contribute his quota to the success of the team.
“It’s a great honour and privilege to be given the responsibility of captaining the Black Stars,” Gyan told GHANAsoccernet.com
“I am really proud and excited to be given such a huge role. We are a united team determined to work hard for our country.
“I’m looking forward to my new role and by the grace of God and with the support of my teammates and the Ghanaian people, I believe we’ll go places.”
The former Sunderland man will be required to spearhead the West African heavyweights to win their first African crown in 31-years at next year’s Nations Cup in South Africa.

I am beginning to love appiah for a bold step in the long waited revolution. Mensah has failed as a leader.
We all know painstill performs when he has that on his arm and gyan likes simplicity as possible. But it is his time
So basically he can’t be dropped when he is not playing well? This guy hasn’t improved one bit ever since he moved to UAE and that’s exactly what he said he will be doing when he left Sunderland.
You guys will be eating humble pie when he under-performs, mark my words. But all the same i wish him well.
