Gyan is looking ahead to the game against Zambia

By Patrick Akoto

Ghana’s super star striker Asamoah Gyan has warned Zambia the Black Stars will put them to sleep when the two teams clash in a crucial 2014 World Cup group decider in September.

The Black Stars stepped up preparations for the BIG showdown after fighting from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Turkey in an international friendly on Wednesday night.

Gyan inspired the team to success and cemented his superstar status for the West African giants with a second half brace at the Atuturk Arena in Istanbul.

Zambia on the other hand drew 1-1 with Senegal in a similar exercise as the two countries fine-tune ahead of the crunch meeting in Kumasi next month.

The Black Stars must avoid defeat to advance to the final play-offs while the Chipolopolo must pull the chestnut out of the blazing fire to win and ensure they advance to the next stage at the expense of the four-time African champions.

But the Ain hitman insists his colleagues are ready to teach the ‘noisy’ Zambians a bitter lesson.

“I think we’re ready. Some of the players have just started their league and some are still on pre-season,” Gyan said

“We are preparing ourselves physically for the game. But that time everybody will be ready.

“This game will be special for Ghanaians. There will be huge expectation from the fans. We know what Ghanaian want and we’re coming to Ghana to make everybody happy

“It won’t be an easy game for Ghana. There might be pressure but we know what we’re capabale of doing. So we’ll make sure we come to Ghana and make everybody happy.

“Honestly we have never spoken about the Zambian game. But I think we’re all professionals and we know what is at stake.

The Black Stars have suffered two successive defeats against the Zambians and will aim to avenge the defeat suffered especially at the 2012 African Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equitorial Guinea.

True and well said GSN thats mature writting. if only u cod be postin stories like this one which is fair in all its content and not the usual biased stories which incite the ghanain blogger to insult curse zambia. Now one thing gyan must know is… that zambian defense is yet to concend more than 1 goal againest all potent and lethal west african strikers. He and the otha strikers wil have to work very hard to score more goals. That is zambia 4u

    • Emeka says:

NO @ghanaboy iam a Nigerian i have stayed so many years in Zambia. i left Nigeria to Zambia when i was 15years old, i stayed in Zambia(Kitwe) for 6years then returned to Nigeria(Kano) so no one and i mean no one can insult me in Bemba. So i see GHANA losing to ZAMBIA as they have the TIGHTIEST defense in Africa at the moment.

It takes a deadly strike force to undo a tight defence, go ask Turkey what Gyan alone can do? Not to talk of when all arsenals are ready! If we want to beat Turkey we know what to do, but we just trying out some players, Gyan and the juventus guy Asamoah both came on as a second half substitudes. We will mesmerize zambia and teach them soccer!

THE PROBLEM WITH GHANAIANS IS YOU EXPECT TOO MUCH FROM GYAN AND THIS PUTS TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE GUY . DNT BE SUPRISED IF HE GOES BACK IN RETIREMENT. A TEAM IS MADE UP OF ALL OTHER PLAYERS NOT GYAN. GYAN HAS PROBLEMS WITH ZAMBIA THIS IS NOT LESOTHO ITS THE IMMEDIATE PAST AFCON CHAMPS YOU NEED TO RESPECT ZAMBIA. IF ONLY YOU WATCHED HOW SHARP THEY WERE LAST NIGHT AGAINST SENEGAL IN PARIS…LET US WAIT FOR THE KUMASI SHOWDOWN. WINA AZALILA (SUMONE WILL CRY!!!!)

@Kiki, do not be happy with your statistics here. Zambia beat Ghana home and away in 1987/1988 for the qualifiers to the 1988 olympics. Zambia qualified at the expense of Ghana and this is the tournament where Zambia beat Italy by 4 goals to nil. The tournament which made Kalusha Bwalya become the 1988 african footballer of the year. Zambia has a better record over Ghana my friend whether you like it or not.
