Asamoah Gyan finally arrives in UAE for Al-Ain pre-season, Castro still missing
Gyan has rejoined his club on their pre-season training

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan will make a delayed arrival in the UAE on Sunday to join his club Al Ain for their pre-season even though his friend Castro has not been found.

The managers of the talented striker managed to convince Gyan on Saturday to join up with the rest of his Al Ain team-mates ahead of the start of the new season.

Gyan was expected to have joined the club last week but the disappearance of his musician friend Castro, who is feared dead following his drowning while on holidays with the striker, delayed his departure.

This means Gyan missed his club's two-week training camp in Italy which ended with a 2-1 friendly victory against English League One side Barnsley on Saturday.

The 28-year-old has endured a painful recuperation in his homeland following his impressive two-goal spell at the World Cup, with a jet ski accident leading to the disappearance of musician Castro.

That tragedy even led to a Ghanaian lawyer calling on Gyan's arrest for questioning over the incident.

Gyan and veteran midfielder Helal Saeed will meet up with the rest of the squad, who returned to the Middle East Saturday from their Montecatini Terme base.

The Ghana captain will hit the ground running with training at the club ahead of some key matches scheduled to whip the squad into shape.

Friendlies with Al Kuwait SC on Wednesday and Saudi’s Al Nasr on Friday lie ahead, before Al Ain depart for another European tour in Austria on July 31.
