Striker Asamoah Gyan has spoken of his desire to qualify Ghana to the World Cup as captain of the Black Stars.
The Al Ain ace will lead the Black Stars for the crucial first leg of the playoffs against Egypt towards next year’s World Cup in Brazil on Tuesday.
Gyan has played for Ghana at all the two World Cup finals the nation has qualified for but under the leadership of Stephen Appiah and John Mensah.
The 26-year-old is now looking to help the team qualify for the next year’s finals with him as captain.
“Mentally, everybody is ready for this game,” he said at the pre-match press conference.
“So we will make sure we make everybody proud. If I qualify the team to the World Cup, I will be very happy.”
Asamoah Gyan was made captain of the Black Stars last year.
He replaced John Mensah who has been made the general captain of the team.
