Asamoah Gyan says he is ready to face Zambia

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan says he is ready to play in the deciding 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia on Friday despite concerns over his fitness.

The Black Stars captain has been struggling over the past days with a muscle injury.

The Al Ain hitman has since not trained with the rest of his teammates in the last two sessions.

But the former Sunderland ace says he ‘feels good to play’ against Zambia in an expected gruelling encounter on Friday.

“Personally I felt something in my muscle and I thought it was something serious,” he said at the pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“But I spoke to the medical team and then we went for check up and the scan and everything was perfect, the muscle was OK.

“And so I decided to train that was yesterday. If you could see I was training apart.

“Everything went well, my movement and everything was OK.

“So I think I am ready. Tonight I will join the team in the training session and hopefully everything will be fine.

“I feel good to play on Friday.”

Gyan’s involvement against Zambia will give the Black Stars a massive lift as his goals has helped Ghana to the threshold of progression in the qualifiers for next year’s World Cup in Brazil.
