Appiah drops Ghana return hint

Ex Ghana captain Stephen Appiah

Stephen Appiah says he is seriously considering a return to the national team, the ex- Ghana captain has exclusively told GHANAsoccernet.com.

This comes just under a year of announcing his international retirement.

The 30-year-old midfielder however stressed it is not going to be a decision bourne out of desperation since the Black Stars have more than enough quality to achieve even more for the nation.

“I am retired but you let’s wait to see what happens in future,” Appiah told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“If you look at the performance of the young ones such as Kwadwo Asamoah, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Asamoah Gyan and Dede Ayew you know I am not being missed much.”

The ex Ghana captain who announced his international retirement after leading Ghana to its second ever World Cup last year in South Africa.

Appiah says he is considering the option due to the flogging plea of the masses.

Just last week, administrator Isaac Tetteh ‘ TT Brothers’ made a public plea for the midfielder to return.

    • Unknown says:

Fully agree on that. His physical condition could become a problem again and having a half-fit player in the national squad instead of a (younger) fit player wouldn’t be reasonable.

  11. Johnny says:

I say thanks, enough playing and we appreciate that. I think, now, you can contribute better by getting official coaching training and coming back to coach the national team. Right now we have a lot of good midfield players.

    PS:
If you were a striker, then I’d say hell heah, come back because our attack is very weak.

  12. scoleapion says:

HAVE YOU WATCHED PAUL SCHOLES PLAY OR ZIDANE. “NONSENCE” DID YOU GUYS WATCH STEPAPP PLAY IN ESSIENS AFRICA 11 VRS WORLD GAME THAT IS WHAT A REAL PLAYER IS. 17. Bright Nunoo says:

At least Stephen must forgive all of us and heed to the pleading of the nation. Some of us believe we need to retire him well with a testimonial match. He is the best captain we have had in the senior national team for a long time.

  18. Lord Dennig says:

If he can play for 10 -15 minutes, that would be fine.Just give him some substitution in the last 10 minutes. I am sure he can read the game. He still got the accurate passes and can also give some long range shoots. Let us give him the chance to come back for the last time to make amends for the penalty kick which he should have taken during the world cup which Asamoah Gyan fluffed. Thanks people

  19. Danny says:
