Baffoe leading officials and teams onto the pitch during the FIFA Club World Cup Quarter Final match between Kashiwa Reysol and Club de Futbol Monterrey
Ex Ghana international Anthony Baffoe has been appointed the general co-ordinator for the opening game of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 46-year-old will direct affairs throughout the opening ceremony and the game itself between co-host Equatorial Guinea and Libya in Bata on Saturday.
The ex FC Koln defender has distinguished himself in the general co-ordination role in high profile Fifa and Caf tournaments and has been duly rewarded with taking charge of the opening of Africa’s biggest football showpiece.
Baffoe who is also a member of Fifa and Caf Football Committees will also oversee all group games being played at the Bata venue.
He recently discharged a similar role during the Fifa Club World Cup in Japan which received raving reviews.
AM REALLY IMPRESSED ND PROUD OF DIS GUY.
This is what Ghana is looking for.Its illustrious sons being appointed to man august affairs of Africa.
Keep up the good work Tony.Ghana is solidly behind you.ALLEZ TONY,VOUS ETE FORT.
The rise and rise of this great son of our land.I am always filled with pride whenever Tony gets such international recognition in such roles. He continues to amaze me with the heights he has attained since he hanged up his boots. For him to go this far in a relatively young age in football administration is great achievement.
He has helped his career by studying and preparing himself for such tasks. This is a man who speaks 9 International languages…. French,English,German,Italian,Spanish,Dutch,Portuguese among others.(Not too sure about the others but I know for a fact about the aforementioned). He has placed himself on a good pedestal by taking education seriously by undertaking courses in communication,International Relations etc. He has taken advantage of the opportunities that have come his way by choosing to play for Ghana when he had other options. I am not surprise at his elevation in recent years. He has greatly stood on the shoulders of the country to get that far. I personally wish our current crop of players who want to remain in the game after retirement should get themselves well prepared for a smooth take-off. They should try and add value to themselves by taking courses that will help them make it in their desired roles after retirement.Tony is a star and a role model in terms of his career.I will not be surprise seeing him in a major role in FIFA and beyond(He’s already a FIFA and CAF Football Committee member).God bless GH
