Anthony Annan has been missing in action due to illness

Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan is struggling with illness which has prevented him from playing for Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem.

Annan, who is on loan from German side Schalke, is key player for the top-flight side.

The enforcer put in some impressive displays since joining them on loan at the start of the season.

Since then he has been playing regularly for the club leading to some impressive results.

But over the past three matches the Ghanaian has been absent in the team’s matches which has raised some eyebrows.

But it has been revealed that he has been suffering from some unknown illness which has led to his exclusion from the Vitesse’s starting team.

It is not certain if he will stay at the Dutch side who must fork out US$5m to sign him permanently from Schalke.
