Angola-based striker Ben Acheampong presented $2,000 to the Local Black Stars squad at the African Nations Championship in South Africa on Sunday to boost the players in subsequent matches in the competition.

The ex-Wa All Stars attacker visited the local Black Stars on Sunday morning at their Bloemfontein base and presented the money to players and technical team in his bid to boost their campaign in the continental tournament.

The attacker, who is in South Africa with his Angolan club Petro Atletico de Luanda on their pre-season tour of in Johannesburg, says his gesture is to motivate his colleagues to go all out in the CHAN tournament.

"Once the team is here and I am also a Ghanaian, I need to do something to encourage my colleagues," Acheampong told www.ghanafa.org after his presentation.

"Motivation is very important in football and at this stage we need to progress from the group stage. I thought about coming here to motivate my colleagues so I asked permission from my club and it was granted.

"It's nice seeing all of them and I have been very impressed with their composure and togetherness."

Acheampong expressed optimism that the players will give out their best in the competition.

"I haven't had enough time to watch the games but I am confident they will go all out in this competition, he said.
