Andre Ayew wins Marseille player of the month award

Andre Ayew has been named Olympique Marseille player of the month of January. He beat his younger brother Jordan Ayew and Andre-Pierre Gignac to the coveted award

Ghana star winger Andre Ayew has been named Olympique Marseille’s player of the month of January.

The 23-year-old beat his younger brother Jordan Ayew and striker Andre-Pierre Gignac to the coveted the award.

Andre swept 55% of the total votes cast by Les Olympians fans while Jordan Ayew received 24% and Gignac came last with 21%.

He scored twice in January in the games against Montpellier and Stade Rennes.

After an early season disturbed by injuries, the 2010/11 Marseille player of the season is picking up his fine form.

He will receive the award when Marseille host Valenciennes at the Stade Vélodrome  on Saturday.
