Andre Ayew not giving up on French title despite Lille defeat

Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew believes Olympique Marseille are still in the French title race despite a disappointing 1-2 at home to leaders Lille on Sunday night.

Lille shocked the defending champions with a 10th minute opener through Eden Hazard before Loic Remy drew level on the hour mar.

The visitors claimed the points courtesy of Pierre-Alain Frau's injury-time winner.

But Ayew wants his team mates to pick themselves up for Friday's visit to joint leaders Rennes who are four points better on 49.

"It's a tough loss to swallow. It will do so quickly and think in Rennes if you want to stay in the game. There are days like this. Lille scored in the first half but we came back in the game. We must raise our head, it's not over and there are a lot of matches remaining. We are disappointed to have lost. We must forget about it and think about Rennes. We did no right to lose, especially after coming back to draw 1-1. We will correct our mistakes, " the 21-year-old told the club’s website.

Marseille are tied on points with Lyon but are in fourth place on goal difference.
