Andre Ayew has confirmed his status as the late goal specialist for Olympique Marseille in the UEFA Champions League.
The Ghana forward extended his knack for scoring late goals with an 86th minute strike in Marseille’s 2-1 defeat to Napoli on Tuesday night.
Ayew’s thunderous strike against Napoli was his third late strike in Europe’s flagship club competition.
The Ghana international scored in the 85th minute in the Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund in the 2011/12 season.
Ayew again racked up a 90th minute strike in the epic win over Inter Milan that same season before producing another late strike in Tuesday’s game against Napoli.
French football experts have now crowned the Ghana forward as the ‘late goal specialist’ for his meaningful late contributions to OM.
Opponents will now have to be aware of Ayew’s late surges to ensure they keep him shut to the end.
The son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele has however been unable to help his side win games when it matters most in this season’s European campaign with his late strikes.
