Ghana players celebrate opening goal by Christian Atsu

Midfielder Andre Ayew says Ghana’s win over Malawi is more important than the individual performance of players.
The Black Stars were far from convincing despite a 2-0 win in the first leg of the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier in Accra.
Some of the key players especially Ayew who has always come through in a Black Stars shirt was a pale shadow of himself on Saturday.
The 22-year-old was playing his first game in seven months for Ghana after recovering from an aggravated shoulder injury during the 2012 Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
And the Olympique Marseille enforcer in an attempt to admit his below par performance says the emphasis should rather be on the team effort and not individual players.
“We have proved that we are together, we are united,” he said at the post-match press conference.
“If I play well tomorrow, he plays well (referring to Atsu) tomorrow and Asamoah (Gyan) plays well tomorrow the only important thing is that Ghana wins and not what he has done or he has done.
“I believe today we’ve proved a lot and we need to continue.
“We are asking you people to just help the team to push up and I know that we are going to make all of us proud.”
Ghana must now simply avoid defeat in the return encounter in Blantyre next month to secure one of the 15 available qualification slots for the finals to be hosted in South Africa early next year.
For the stars to remain united, then the media, the FA and fans like me and u should stop praising some players while making others feel like without them the team would have perform better. We must also stop playing the blame game when the stars lose.
WELL SAID king wise. PLEASE GHANASOCCERNET CAN YOU INTRODUCE A LIKE BUTTON ON THIS SITE. IT WILL HELP A LOT. Some comments on this site deserve likes
I agree with dede that its abt team wrk eventhough his performance was nt eye-catching bt i wish him well next time
Is Dede already getting jealous of Atsu?.Why would dede talk about if someone plays well today or tommorow instead of talking about Atsu performance.Dede no jealousy towards Atsu for this is his time as your time was some months ago in the Blackstars.C.Atsu ROCKS.
It has nothing to do with jealousy. Ghanaians are fond of praising new players at the expense of old ones, which always causes disunity instead of a strong team. Please do not encourage that.
Olele and Sammy Adjei, Abedi and Yeboah, Kwadwo Asamoah and Stephen Appiah, Kwarasey and Olele, Jordan and Gyan, Annan ans Essien, Dede and Muntari,
This nonsense should stop ASAP. Ghana should be the winner not an individual.
THANK YOU SIR.
Instead of us to be happy of new addition of Atsu, we have already started to sow division. If nobody passes the ball to Atsu, how can he score?
Oh Ghana !! Self-destruct people.
You are right. It was even Dede that gave the ball to Atsu to score.
We need to build the strongest team in Africa, and we can. We have the talents. Wakaso and Abeyie would soon join to make it stronger. We don’t need division but strong bond of unity, every country in Africa is moving on faster.
Dede needs to come out and acknowledge the fact that Atsu is a new Star and acknowledge his arrival to the fold and support him. He needs to acknowledge the fact that Atsu was the man of the match. If Dede steps up in Blantye and is in excellent form and wins the Man of the match accolade then Atsu should acknowledge him. If Gyan bangs in 5 goals in Malawi and is Man of the match then both Dede and Atsu should acknowledge Gyan and on and on. This is how it should be and this is what prevents division among a team by acknowledging each other’s achievements and not being jealous of each other or having big egos.
correction: Blantyre.
