Andre Ayew has been asked to apologise to the Black Stars coach

Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew must apologise to the Black Stars technical team and players within seven days or face serious sanctions from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The Marseille player reacted angrily to being substituted during Saturday’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi in Lilongwe.

According to a reporter from Happy FM who was at the game, Ayew uttered unpleasant words directed at the coaching staff to register his displeasure with his satisfaction.

The son of the legend Abedi Pele also gestured angrily before refusing to shake team manager Sabahn Quaye and his team-mates on the bench.

This prompted a meeting between the technical team led by coach Kwesi Appiah and management of the Black Stars after the game to examine the incident.

Ayew has now been given a one-week ultimatum to apologise to the technical team and the players or he will face serious sanctions.

“We met and have decided to give him one week to apologise so we are waiting for that and if he fails to do so, then we will take the necessary actions,” the President of the Ghana FA, Kwesi Nyantakyi told Accra-based Happy FM.

Ayew’s actions have received widespread condemnation in the local radio stations since journalists who returned from the game in Malawi have reported the incident.

With the Africa Cup of Nations approaching the Ghana coach is seeking to clamp down on any acts of indiscipline to foster unity in the squad.

Players like Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan were previously punished after they broke the Black Stars code of conduct.

Have your say and make your views known in the box below:

Do you think Andre Ayew should apologise to coach Kwesi Appiah?

The Black Stars Team is greater than an individual. Let him apologise!

  3. Samson Tabiri says:

This report is very very untrue. The player DID NOT utter any words.

If GSN want to be credible, NAME the Happy FM journalist who said so. That’s credibility.

    • Billymoore says:

@ Sampson, Odiasempa Kwame Oware of Happy fm reported it yesterday. According to him, Mr. Sabahn Quaye went to welcome him but Dede snubbed him. He went ahead to retort that he wasn’t tired for the coach to sub him. The reporter said Kwasi Appiah didn’t see but Max Kunadu did. Again Dede refused to shake hands with his team mates.

      • lolvfunny says:

Masa, everyone at times go over board when disappointed or feel unsatisfied especially when the person feels he/she can do more and he is denied the opportunity. It is human nature. Nevertheless, I think A.Ayew should apologize if the story we are hearing is true so that we can move forward. Unnecessary comments or assumptions should be avoided

  4. black moon says:

well Samson, if this report were true, of all people he DIDI should know better…

  5. Ansong says:

It seems this tactically blind kumasi coach wants to start war on our best players because of his fights with legend Abedi Pele during 90s and pave way for inlaws Adiyah/Boateng/Afful.Instead of fighting for UEFA coaching licence A,he’s fighting the very best who can help us win.wise up*

    • Adokay says:

Aba Brother! This one too you are bringing in tribalism&nepotism? You might not like coach Appiah, but for the sake of the Nation, bury your ‘hatred’ and history. If Coach Appiah habours sinister intentions for Abedi and his Children, the Management Team of the Black Stars are not haters of Abedi! Dede is a fine player, but he should be guided and disciplined for his good and that of the nation.

    • Billymoore says:

Mr. Ansong, I plead that you stop this hatred for Mr. Kwesi Appiah. If you really know what is good, then please advice Dede to get his ego under his pants. It began with him and Sulley, then the no. 10 jersey between him and Kwadwo Asamoah. Somebody really need to sit the young and promising gem down before his ego becomes his nemesis.

    • nana kay says:

Aba wat school of thought is this. Are u sacrificing our national team for tribalism. WE dont need people like u in this country. The pull him down syndrome has infested ur reasoning

  6. Amonike says:

Aye must appologize if he did so because Respect is reciprocal.

  7. Dickson Chirwa says:

Just chase this small little boy from your squad so that as Zambia , we can be able to win it again as he seems to be a threat…….

  8. Ghanas Son says:

Ayew is still a kid I think. His father should talk to him. SHAME on him…

  9. kuuku philly says:

Dede u r not above the law n u r well respected so please put this issue to rest by apologizing and let’s move on..we need u..

  10. kmens says:

He ought to do it now and immediatly. He is not above the law. In as much as every player on the field can be subtituted what was he thinking. Is a game plan so if you finish with your part another one has to come in. If that is not the case then what is the essence of the players on the bench. We should have just gone with only eleven players. Even if he apologise he still need to be punished to serve as a deterant to other players. He has been the cause of division for sometime back. It came to the media that he was not respecting the senior players. He is a good players by all standards and he is also fighting for the captaicy position. However, if you put up with this behaviour how can you be a good example when you are made the captain. I guess he should not have been asked to apologise is out of order. he should have known by now that he should apologise. Even asking him and given him a time frame to apologise is not the right thing to be done. He should have known better

  11. KWAME PITO says:

this is a common occurence of soccer players at top level when they get overheated in the game. Akwasi should just calm things down and speak with the boy to take it easy. Even robben got frustrated at being substituted by the netherlands coach.

  12. kmens says:

Masa the fact that someone did does not mean is good to do that. In the first place you need to respect your coach and other team players. Ask if Robben was not punished? He needs to know better cos he has not been doing that in his team in France.

  13. kmens says:

Lets assume if the coach has insulted him for not passing the ball well or dribbling so much in the game, what would have been his reaction as a player? What is good for the goose is also good for the gander. Respect is reciprocal as someone has already mentioned in the thread.

  14. Know it all says:

These boys are very indiscplined. If this is the rubbish they will take to afcon 2013 they wont go very far. We will continue lossing again to teams like zambia. Look at what they behaved in Ndola. Guys grow up.

    • Kasambata says:

It is because of people like you that this boy is beginning to react. We Ghanaians are too awful and envious of the Ayew family. Look at the game critically, how many of the players on the pitch were playing better than Dede? Did you realise that the Black Stars came under a lot of pressure after Dede was taken off? Dede was defending the left flank so well that it took pressure off Harrison Afful and prevented the attackers and defenders from overlapping. Asamoah Gyan, Atsu and the others were not at their best yet they stayed on. It is about time he stood for his rights and not allow people to sit on his potential. Is this the first time a player has protested substitution? Sulley had to openly complain when coach Milo was playing Tagoe in South Africa and keeping him on the bench. Why are we so cheap? Dede has been always vilified at the least chance. Look at the manner in which they are trying to axe Jordan from the team. Is there any Ghanaian striker with the potential of Jordan. Playing and scoring at that level at such a tender age! Give us a break!

      • mukmin says:

I agree with you totally I have also noticed the it the coach always tends to sub Dede or Jordan or both in most of the games he has coached there is a subliminal message there that most don’t see but I have noticed it. Dede is a good player who playes offense and defends well neither Deschamps, Milo or Baup subs him even when he’s having a bad game offensively because he is capable of popping up at the right place a right time to score vital goals. Jordan is an excellent player technically and has very good awareness and I don’t understand how Deschamps and Baup are able to use him effectively and Appiah and the Ghana techinical bench don’t know how to use him it may be their lack of technical and tactical knowhow but it seems to me. But in any case it seems to me there is a subliminal bias against the brothers but that doesn’t justify an indisciplined reaction from Dede, he should apologize and maintain his composure because that is in his best interest and that of the team.

        • afrikaba1 says:

For the past three matches or so Akwasi Appiah has been substituting Dede Ayew, sometimes for a local player to come in even when the guy is way better than the others on the pitch. As a player its frustrating. I dont kno if Coach Appiah is trying to appease the local journalists or if its a strategy to win matches because just like the Serbes, he needs to be careful with his substitutions. That been said, I think Ayew should apologize to bring the matter to an end.

        • Mustapha Slomo says:

@Kasambata and Mukmin. Your assertions and arguments are unnecessary and flawed. Why must you presume that the coach or any other person in the team dislikes or is jealous of the Ayew brothers! Your comments are parochial and smack of immaturity. Instead of looking at the substance of the matter at hand and proffering reasonable suggestions, you fly off on those preposterous tangents and in the process display your wicked agendas. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Even Abedi, in all his glory, neither disrespected any of our local coaches nor his fellow players; so why should Andre, who is definitely not in his father’s class, behave as if he is indispensable to the team!!?

          • mukmin says:

Don’t twist my comments I never said he shouldn’t apologize I firmly stated that he should apologize nor did I advocate for him to be disrespectful to the coaches I’m simply stating what I have observed go back and read my comments. The first leg against Malawi he played a poor game and deserved to be subbed but I have also noticed a trend of him being subbed ahead of less experienced or others playing worse during the course of the game that’s all. The point I’m trying to make is that of the guys who usually play in offense for OM ie Gignac, Valbuena, Remy, Amalfitano etc. Dede is the most defensive amongst them and goes is for more tackles this is backed by statistics so it prudent for a coach to retain such an offensive player especially when you are trying to maintain a lead and besides Dede is and experienced player so why is he getting substituted ahead of less experience players.

        • Rasheed says:

mukmin I know you do lick Dede’s ass for some peanuts but, please be don’t be myopic in trying to defend him.Who told you Dede is not substituted in Marseille’s Matches? How many matches has Jordan played under Deschamp and Baup?. You always defend the Ayews no matter what?.If Appiah didn’t want Dede he wouldn’t have invited him in the first place.Dede has misbehaved and as good muslem, instead of you advising him to apologise to bring sanity into the team, you are rather showing how infirmed you are.Grow up please.

          • mukmin says:

Don’t twist my comments I never said he shouldn’t apologize I firmly stated that he should apologize nor did I say he has never been substitued by either of OM coach go back and read my comments the point I’m trying to make is that of the guys who usually play in offense for OM ie Gignac, Valbuena, Remy, Amalfitano etc. Dede is the most defensive amongs them and goes is for more tackles this is backed by statistics so it prudent for a coach to retain such an offensive player especially when you are trying to maintain a lead and besides Dede is and experienced player so why is he getting substituted ahead of less experience players.

          • Rasheed says:

Mukmin please Let Appiah do his job and stop your meaningless analysis.

      • chris katongo says:

What is all this about dede playing so well that he should’nt have been substituted. When we played in Accra he and his brother were flops. He has gotten the opportunity to play outside but i think the likes of mahatma otoo and kofi nti boakye just to mention a few are far better than this chap. Dede should give us a break after the ten jersey then what greedy bastard. Football is made up of eleven players including subs and every one plays a role. dede is the cause of our failure at the senior level because he is arrogant, rather he must humble himself. is he better than coach appiah. he must be retired from the national team. dede shame oooo. Shamolo

        • Kwesi says:

Well. Unfortunately, the white man tends to be objective and business like when he is looking for players. That is why your so called mahatma Otoo and Kwesi nti are still languishing around. All the Abedi haters will eat humble pie when the boys hit world awards. Ghanaians have killed dede’s ambition by criticising whatever he does. Do you think C Ronaldo and Messi grew so big from being treated like Dede?

  15. nemyapril says:

ppo take everythng too serious.everyone hav his/her own reaction 2wards everythng.gfa and the media should understand dede-he loves futball n every bit about soccer so such reactions can not be avoided when t comes to the issue of substitution btw he is just human so ghana should nt take thngs that far!

    • Billymoore says:

My brother, how do you expect the players who are not featured in the starting line up to behave if being substituted is so much of a problem to him. He was subbed for Mubarak Wakaso. What did the coach do wrong?

      • aprilmckay says:

the coach did nothing wrong I agree but we should also respect other ppo’z feelings…him reacting like that (if there is any truth in this)isnt a sin…thats his feelings, afterall he ddnt insult any so i see nothing wrong by him reacting in such a way…he just reacted as any one who is not satisfied..is it a sin to express ones self?!

  16. manuel yeboah says:

I think this Ayew wants to make himself untouchable within the team, that certainly must not be tolerated regardless however superp he is. The coach represents all of us Ghanaians and if he is disrespected it is us as a nation who are disrespected nevertheless the coach must appreciate his youthfullness that may sometimes lead him to overact, as it stands, I don’t think he is anywhere near Balotolie’s persona. But all players must be treated fairly and with respect, if it did happen then the FA and Coach’s wishes must be met, apologize Ayew.

  17. kk says:

GIVING ULTIMATUMS WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. OUR COACHES AND TECHNICAL TEAM SHOULD LEARN ABOUT MAN MANAGEMENT. THESE PLAYERS HAVE BIG EGOS AND THERE ARE WAYS OF HANDLING THEM. PLAYERS LIKE CRISTIANO RONALDO, BALOTELLI, ROONEY AND THE LIKE DO WORSE THINGS.

  18. isaac@ghacem says:

I think this nonsense will stop if we encourage stiffer competion in the team so that nobody thinks he is untouchable in the team. Memphis Dapey of PSV can play better on the left side that dede plays. I hope we get him nationalized so that dede thinks about what he does in the team. Tsu and K. Asamoah will fight in the middle just as well. He even has to be punished besides the apology to deter others from doing same in future. Nonsense.

    • pablo says:

Thanks for the comments brother. Dede can go to hell, who does he think he is. If he is not careful, he will retire prematurely from the bs, can’t he learn from Appiah, Essein and K. Asamoag. God elbows the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourself brother.

  19. Fiifi, Berlin says:

If you go to Rom , you do what the romers do!Dede should apologise and bring the “case” behind him!He should learn his lessons from that and move on. He knows now his environments and the stakes at hand and should therefore adapt his reactions and actions to the new and prevailing “order”. All these things are part of the “maturing” process! All the best Dede!

  20. RAS ''AB'' says:

why not apologist? my friend come down and do what is right to your follow players, dont think that you are so great than them,i hope you know that respect in football is such a great thing in sports ,so therefore just change your mind and be a justice to your elders!

  21. Adjei says:

Everybody is a body is a boss in BS..no discpline whatsoever ,this is why the AFCON has elluded us so many years!!!

  22. Kay says:

Dede loves his country so much so that he is willing to literary die for Ghana.

Do you remember under 20 World Cup? He was angry because he thought he could help in a significant way. He has no problem with anybody before the match so why should he have a problem now.

In the heat of moment footballers always looses their cool. Can any of you explain why good players sometimes get straight red cards? Football is high tension game.

Dede will do the honorable thing to shame all his critics, he was raised up properly not a street boy like KPB.

  23. Tito says:

Well, well well, my dear soccer fans, here we are again. I think no coach will ever wish to hate or tarnish the image of his player. On Dedes issue, what they are talking about is unity and not individualism. Dede alone cannot play for the black stars.Let us not forget that at the under 20 level he did a similar thing. Dede please let humility bre your yard stick and the sky will be your limit. Apologise and reconcile with the group.Hope you are listening to me. God bless you.

  24. Young says:

If he committed such an act, then by all means he needs to apologize. However, he’s still learning and he’s very young. Maybe the fact that he won the U20 WC is going to his head or maybe because there are less senior players like S. Appiah, Essien and J. Mensah so he’s starting to react. This dude is a good football player who can be better with time.. he’s just too young and needs a lot of learning.. He should stay calm cuz he can be easily approached.. We know where you live fam…

  25. mukmin says:

Dede is frustrated he needs to maintain his cool I have noticed that the coach tends to sub him or Jordan or both usually even when there are others playing worse I think they are trying to push them out of Black Stars gradually. He should apologize and maintain his dignity.

  26. JJ says:

Oh God help those who think they have money so they are proud and wound show no respect.Dede and other players with similar character should change and be humble! God bless Ghana!!

  27. quoby says:

this boy is not better than ani other player in the black stars…dede is becoming too known.is he the onli player in the team.before he Dede will join the black stars there were players and the team was winning…..he is not an extraordinary player…there are more players better than him.its just that he has got a chance and he is playing for the black stars….he should go to hell.nonsense do u think the black stars is for you..foolish boy…if he does not apologise AA should not send him to the nations cup period…he can bring confusion into the team….i know his problem…he dede hate Atsu..cos astu is playing 90mins and he is not.meanwhile Atsu is better than you…kwasiaaaaaaaa boy…go and apologise

    • Carbonite says:

dude whats your problem? why all the hate for Dede? And by the way who tells you Atsu is better? hahaha funny lil dude!

      • bonti says:

What a foolish name for a foolish man , do u know how to kick a ball.Players do not want to be out of competitions so they dont want to sit on the bench and see the team loose……this was a do or die game so why bring on a player u have not even tried in a friendly match…..bullshit.By the way did u even watch the match?

      • pablo says:

Atsu is better than Dede Period! If not for exposure and experience I will choose him ahead of Dede! In no long a time, he will be stripped of the no. 10 shirt and given to Atsu.

  28. Dr. Zomito says:

Even if he apologise he should still be punished. The least is to exempt him from the CAN.

    • aprilmckay says:

STFU u dnt knw wat u r tokn….are u the GFA?The decided punishment is for him to apologize n it is enuf by the way let him do to complete the task but no one shud apologize for being real…freedom of expression!

  29. Saxcee says:

It doesn’t matter if you were the messi on the pitch.
If u r substituted drag ur ass out of the pitch.
You dnt need to be substituted when u r tired.
    C’mon apologise!

  30. HENRY says:

Dede, I love u, just do whatever you have been asked to do.
there is this proverb that, the most powerful weapon on this earth is silence.
Just apologize and the sky will be yours forever

  31. Bemol says:

I tink gyan shld hav be en d sub instead of dede. Dede though ur utmost apology is needed.

  32. musa fifa says:

this our coach hate Ayew family we all know,so what is happening iss new to me

  33. musa fifa says:

i mean what is happening is not something new to me

    • KWAME PITO says:

HAHAHAA. CRUCIFY HIM PAA. Ghanaians would criticise and destroy the ambitiousness of this chap and very soon we will have less ambitious and tiboor players like Kwadwo asamoah( when he is ghana jersey) in the blackstars.

  34. selfmade says:

The era of Senegal 92 is back and this time around, the son of abedi has taken the baton from his father!!! Its mere coincidence that this is happening at the time appiah is the coach?? Was jordan exclusion from the squad also a factor? History almost always repeat itself on a higher plane!!! Viva the revolutioncooo

  35. yopoo says:

I don’t think Dede have done this I know the guy is very humble even if he has this normal in the game the likes Christiano Ronaldo and Messi have done this before and their good coaches talk to them and end everything amicably why is Akwesi Appiah trying to be like a school teacher?

  36. Young says:

Lets be honest tho – Asamoah Gyan really SUCKS now BIG TIME.. Do you guys see him the pitch? He does absolutely NOTHING

  37. Rony says:

Man,u a simply off track, wat are u trying to insinuate..cant you simply call a spade a spade rather than messing up de issue and blowing things out of proportion..huh

  38. Chris opoku SA says:

Guys leave this issue for the officials to sort out with him. It might not be a big issue, but media and the fans are the once going to creat tensions on this issue. Ghanains talk too much

  39. Dr Who says:

And such a character wants to be the captain of the Black Stars?..hahahahahaha! Look, the earlier he apologizes the better it would be for his captainship ambitions. The fact that hes not substituted in his club does not mean he shouldnt be substituted in his national team. The Black Stars is bigger than his club.

  40. joe says:

Whom does he think he is? messi? or ronaldo? ooh dis boy n his jnr broda jordan ar so awful n inmatured in behaviour. he did d same at d under 20 level wen we faced hungary n i hav d cd right now n i think he must change. he shd b benched n sanctioned if he returns. d problem is dat d coach lack faith n is nt dng his best 2 try other players n how could he hav gotten atsu if doors werent opened? dis is sheer lunacy n disrespect 2 d entire formal n present blk stars squard, shaaaame!

  41. Desmond says:

GHANAIANS AM JUST SURPRISE AT YOU PEOPLE…I DONT KNOW IF AKWASI APPIAH WANT TO AXE THE AYEW BROTHERS FROM THE TEAM.EVERYONE KNOWS DEDE AYEW FOR HIS SKILL AND POTENTIAL.THIS IS A PLAYER WHO WORKS EXTREMELY HARD AT EVEN PAIN BARRIERS WITH HIS SHOULDER INJURY BUT HE STILL PLAYED.EVERYTIME HE IS BEEN CALLED TO THE BLACKSTAR’S CAMP HE COMES NOT AS COMPARED TO OTHER PLAYERS WHO USE INJURY AS EXCUSE.2010 WORLD CUP IF DEDE AYEW SHOULD HAVE PLAYED IN THE SUQAS AFTER BEEN SUSPENDED ON YELLOW CARD THE STORY WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT…… I NOTICE AKWASI APPIAH WAS UP TO SOMETHING WHEN HE FIRST SUBSTITUTED DEDE AND JORDAN IN OUR FIRST GAME AGAINST MALAWI,WHICH WAS LOOKING SO RIDICULOUS.WHEN HE SUBSTITUTED HIM AGAIN I GOT ANGRY AND SAID (WHY DIDNT HE SUBSTITUTE GYAN FOR WARRIS)I WATCH THE GAME,DEDE WAS GIVEN GOOD PASSES OF THE BALL AND DEFENDING SO GIVENM AFFUL A LESS WORK TO DO.AFTER HE BEEN TAKEN AWAY FROM THE GAME,WE LOST POSSESSION OF THE BALL NO ONE WAS SUPPORTING ASAMOAH GYAN.THIS TWO GUYS PLAY AT COMPETITIVE LEAGUES AND DEDE PLAYS FULL TIME EVEN WHEN THE TEAM IS DOWN.IF YOU WATCH OUR MATCH AGAINST MALAWI,HE WAS THE ONE WHO CROSSED THE BALL FOR THE GOAL TO BE SCORED.LAST SEASON IN FRENCH LEAGUE JORDAN AYEW ALSO WON THE BEST GOAL IN THE SEASON SCORING A THUNDERBOLT FROM 80 YARDS.HOW DOES THE COACH WANT TO BREAK THE PEACE THAT EXISTED IN THE BLACKSTAR FOR LONG.NOW SEEING DEDE AS A TRAITOR.WHY WONT SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN WHEN THE COACH CHANGED EVERYONE FROM THE BLACKSTAR SETUP AND BROUGHT HIS OWN PEOPLE LIKE MAXWELL KONADU.I WANT TO LET THEM KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT A KOTOKO CLUB,THIS IS THE NATIONAL BLACKSTAR.WHY DIDNT HE CALL UP SOME PLAYERS IN THE PREMIERSHIP SUCH AS MAHATMA OTOO,SAMMY ADJEI AND SOME VIBRANT ASHGOLD PLAYERS….HE HAD BETTER BE CAREFULL SO WE DONT LOSE THIS YOUNG PROMISING TALENTS WE HAVE.

    • Kasambata says:

Spot on my man. Akwesi Appiah has to learn to be fair or get out of the seat. He doesn’t deserve it if he is going to be discriminating. Dede is about the only player who gives his all and the days when Ghanaians were made to blame Dede for the problems of Ghana are over. We now know all the haters.

  42. eddie USA says:

GUY YOU DON’T WANNA BRING THAT SORT OF THING YOUR DAD DO ON HIS PLAYING DAYS THAT COS THE COUNTRY A LO. GHANA HAS ALOT OF POTENTIALS,BESIDES YOU ARE NOT ALL THAT. IS THAT HOW YOUR LEADERSHIP GONNA BE. GET A LIFE DON’T EVEN COME BACK TO MORE WE DON’T WANT YOU IF YOU ARE INDICIPLINE

  43. Sergeant says:

Like father like son.Dede wants to bring back the era in the 90‘s where Abedi involves himself with the players who were suppose to don the jersey & play in the first eleven. This has made me remember Adani Best song that ‘we are rearing a baby lion & when it grows we shall see‘.The earlier we humble Dede, the better it will be for the Black stars.

  44. MUSAH FIFA says:

IS gyan and KPB better than him? or even ESSIEN but can they do this to them? A Ayew is no more a small boy in the Black Stars, he deserve a respect, they should not bring what has happen between them and his father again to scatter our beloved Black Stars

  45. fakulty says:

for me,i still maintain the fact that akwesi appiah is unworthy for the course, and as for dede,i dont know but if anything of that sort happened,he should apologise

  46. zambians are pigs says:

Dede should count himself lucky.Where will he fit in THE SPANISH TEAM,ENGLAND,ARGENTINA,BRAZIL.
    All this over-rated players.
He should be sidelined for six-matches.Like father like son.Dede was one of my favourate players until l read this story three days ago.
He is the same person who started confusion in marseille.I am very disappointed.
As it stands,if he apologises,it won’t come from his heart. It is a forced apology.

  47. Mojahadine says:

Ghanaians STOP! STOP! STOP! and use common sense when commenting on this issue. Why is this incident being played out in the media by Akwesi Appiah and his gang to begin with? How many Ghanaians saw it? probably not many. If it was seen mostly by the players, why was it not settled behind close doors immediately by the coaches to show strength, rather than allowing Nyantakyi to insert himself into it to grab attention?

Will playing this incident in the media make players respect Akwesi Appiah? hell no. If he had taken a swift action with the consent of his coaches outside the GFA management, he would have gotten a lot of respect from his players and would have further shown them that he is in control.

For him and his coaches to allow GFA management and the news media to loud out this incident have shown their lack of leadership in front of grown men who are millionaires and do not have to either play for Ghana Black Stars or answer to any one.

Player discipline should solely be handled by the head coach the way he sees fit. GFA management have no business even commenting or second guessing the coach. This is one reason why our coaches need to be trained properly and not picked just because they once played for the Black Stars or just because they are Ghanaians. What we should be getting is a properly trained coach with some managerial experience.

Why is a dedicated national player being given an ultimatum in the media to apologize? To prove what? Is it a way to humiliate him? This does not show strength by any means. It rather shows weakness on the part of the coaching staff who are nothing but cowards and incompetent.

    • Ghanaman says:

YOU FOCKING IDIOT! YOur mother is WHORE!! YOUR opinions are stupid… Of course it is going to make the media YOU FOCK FACE DONKEY!!! IT was on Camera!!! The coaching staff we have is great and the only problem is low minded idiotic people like you!!!

Be civil don’t insult him because you disagree with him that is behaviour the inablitity to control your self is behaviour associated with animals and primitive being. Wise up use your intellect I believe you have a brain even if it is the size of a pea use it.

        • Ghanaman says:

Your mothers manners is a Size of a Pea and that is why she is a whore!!!

          • mukmin says:

Dude only a son of a whore who grew up without a father to show him how to behave and talk like a dignified human being will make the comments u make. It’s in your sub-conscious your mom is whore that doesn’t make everyone’s elses mom a whore. It’s must be hard growing up thinking every man is your father.

          • Ghanaman says:

Your mother is nothing more than a 4 cedi slut!!

      • Mojahadine says:

Ghanaman, obviously from your writing, you did not even complete class one in Ghana educational system. You are a disgrace to the Ghanaian society.

For you to write that badly shows how twisted and empty your thinking is. We need smart people in this forum, those with common sense and the ability to express it coherently and respectfully. Your narrow mindedness shows how low you are in the barrel of civilized human beings.

        • Ghanaman says:

I completed wo maame etwe! Kwasea. You are probably a graduate of some Euroversity and can’t apply 90 percent of what you learned! A typical bonehead! Don’t judge a book by its cover. I am much more intelligent that you could ever hope to be. Indeed, you are the crudest state of human nature, not comparable to the noble nature of the dog.

          • Mojahadine says:

Ghanaman, I feel sorry for you, still writing badly, using words wrongly. First impression is everything in life. By your writing you have shown how incompetent, unskilled, narrow minded and above all how inept you are. You do not make any sense at all.

Does your immediate family know how lackluster your basic writing skills are? It’s mind boggling your level of idiocy. I do not believe it’s too late for you to embark on a total intellectual make over.

Learning to be civil and staying away from insults will be a good place to start.

    • mukmin says:

You have raised some good points Mojahadine coaches like Mou, Guardiola, Sir. Alex and them would never put their players on blast to humiliate them they always protect their players and diffuse the situation. I live in the US and we had a similar situation with D.Wade and coach Spoelstra in the an Eastern conference playoff game where Wade went against his coach but he wasn’t put on blast and told to issue an apology the both handled it like grown men and went on to win the NBA championship these kind of scandals are not good for team unity and moral and the coach needs to handle it in a better way. Messi had an issue with Guadiola a couple of years ago when he was chasing the golden boot and Guadiola didn’t play him and Ronaldo won it the barca didn’t make a spectacle out of it by requiring a public apology this could have been handled much better and swept under the rug.

  48. Tenkler says:

What at all has dede done???? ….Is it by fforce to shake hands when u r substituted? ….or what … pls leave the guy alone ….

  49. whyte dave says:

@ isaac it’s nonsense from u. Some of u and gfa are crazy nd apologize to all ghanaians for begging someone who abandoned his nation cos of criticism but using sledge hammer to kill a fly cos it shows clearly dat u’re waiting for d young lad to do smth for u to use against him. Evil coach nd gfa. gbs will loose bitterly @ d nations cup if u’ll not turn from ur demonic schemes.

  50. Stev rsa says:

If GFA & coach mr, kwasi Appiah make mistake by droping Dede & jordan 4rm Afcon we will come home round take my word.

  51. Yaw payin says:

Aboaba like you,the same things he and his brother did at GAbon when this small boy insulted John mensah and other senior guys at the camp. This same boy and his brother and the late Jordan Anaglah were the same people practising juju at the camp against other players like kwadwo asamaoh, asamaoh ghana, derick boateng, sulley mutari etc.

  52. eugene says:

dede is passionate when playing for the Black Stars, it may have been one of those things, please we should not blow this incident out of proportion.
that young man is very committed when playing for the nation. AA, please pardon him, let think instead of the AFCON 2013 IN SA.

  53. DEDE AM AFOOL says:

nonsense ,GHANA FOLKS R NOT SERIOUS KWRAAA. U FORCE A PLAYER TO APOLOGIZE? SHAME journalist LIKE OTI ADJEI ARE ON HIS PAY CHECK ,SO WHY WLD HE RESPECT U.
iF IT WAS MUNTARI U WILL HEAR WAT oTI aDJEI AND HIS ALLIES WILL SAY.SHAME ON STOMACH JOURNALISM IN THIS COUNTRY!

  54. yy says:

Why Kwesi Appiah cannot protect Dede. Every coach must know know how to manage his men. Why is this thing being blown out of proportion? I have watched the match again and it appears there is an orchestrated plan against Dede for whatever reason I don’t know and this will not help us. Why there was no hullabaloo like this when Kingston did worst against Boboo. Kwesi Appiah should not allow journalists to do the coaching for him. A coach is as good as the players he has at his disposal. A word to the wise is enough.

  55. Adebayo says:

EVERY EXPERIENCED COACH KNOWS THAT WHEN YOU HAVE A MAJOR PLAYER IN YOUR TEAM YOU DON’TSUBSITUTE HIM IN CONSECUTIVE MATCHES UNLESS HE’SINJURED. GFA IS WRONG ON THIS MATTER: APPIAH SHOULD HAVE MET WITH DEDE BEHIND CLOSED DOORS APOLOGISED TO HIM, THEN PERSUADED HIM TO APOLOGISE TO HIS TEAM MATES AND MANAGEMENT. DEDE DESERVES MORE RESPECT THAN COACH APPIAH HAS GIVEN HIM SO FAR!

  56. sticki says:

aaaah,y ask him 2 apologiz,he shud hv been charged w/ improper conduct then he defends himself if his explanation isnt tangible he’s purnished LYK ENGLAND simple USELESS FA

  57. JOE ATISO says:

LIKE FATHER LIKE SON! KWASI NYANTAKYI AND HIS GFA MUST HANDLE THIS ISSUE WITH EXTRA CARE NOT TO ALLOW THIS SITUATION TO REACH CRISIS POINT LIKE THE SENIOR ABEDI’S IN THE 90′S. IT SEEMS MOST OF THE COMMENTATORS ON THIS FORUM HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW THE SENIOR ABEDI HIJACKED AND DESTROYED THE BLACK STARS BECAUSE OF HIS POLITICAL CONNECTIONS WITH RAWLINGS AND HIS P/NDC. IT’S ON RECORD THAT THE SENIOR ABEDI PELE WAS THE FIRST AND ONLY PLAYER TO OPENLY INTRODUCE TRIBALISM AND POLITICS INTO THE BLACK STARS.AGAIN FOR THE RECORDS,COACH APPIAH HAD NO CONFRONTATION WITH THE SENIOR ABEDI AS SOME OF YOU SMALL BOYS ARE ERRORNEOUSLY REFERRING TO. IT WAS FRIMPONG MANSO THAT ABEDI USED EVERY BIT OF HIS POLITICAL CLOUT AND HATRED TO OUST HIM FROM THE BLACK STARS.IT’S ABSURD AND TOTAL RUBBISH FOR SOME OF YOU RABBLE-ROUSERS TO IMPLY THAT COACH APPIAH IS ENVIOUS OF THE ABEDIS.ANDRE IS AN EXCELLENT TALENTED SOCCER PLAYER LIKE HIS FATHER WHO IS STILL DESTINED FOR GLORY AND CAN ONLY DO SO BY BEING HUMBLE AND RESPECTFUL. COACH APPIAH HAS ALSO EXCELLED IN VARIOUS WAYS AND DESERVES RESPECT LIKE ANY OF THE PAST BLACK STARS COACHES,PERIOD!

    • MUSAH FIFA says:

which tribe is Abedi, and how many of his tribe are in the Black Stars that time? it is you that want to bring trabalism not ABEDI,and how old are you in 1992?and what do you know about Black Stars that time.

  58. KWAME PITO says:

i can tell that most of those trying to push the DEDE out are Zambian infiltrators on this site. Some hiding behind Ghana names. Ayew refused to shake hands after being subbed off, so what? BIG DEAL? You stupid Ghanaians should go ahead and Pull the team spirit down just like how you pushed Gyan out only for you to go ask for him again after losing away to zambia. Ironically DEDE did not play that game as well. YESTERDAY SOME OF YOU WERE STUPIDLY SAYING ESSIEN SHOULD BE LEFT OUT OF AFCON FOR DULL REASONS, THAT ISSUE SHOULD BE LEFT TO THE PLAYER TO DECIDE. STUPID GHANAIANS WHICH AMBITIOUS HARDWORKING PLAYER AT TOP LEVEL HAS NOT REACTED TO BEING SUBBED OFF BEFORE. ONCE AGAIN STUPID GHANAIANS THE REST OF US WISE GHANAAIANS WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO BRING THE TEAM SPIRIT DOWN. STOP MAKING UNPRODUCTIVE NOISE. If a player reacts at being subbed it is due frustration not hatred for the team. A.A SHOULD CALM HIM DOWN RATHER THAN ALLOWING IT IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN

  59. GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

FOLKS, DEDE HAS A HISTORY OF GETTING TICKED OFF WHEN HE GETS SUBSTITUTED. AFCON 2008, U20WCUP. I THINK IT HAS TO DO WITH HIS EGO. HE IS GRADUALLY MATURING BUT THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS. DEDE SHOULDNT BE FORCED TO COME OUT N APOLOGIZE. HE KNOWS WAT HE SAID WAS WRONG. ITS HIS EGO. HE WOULDNT DARE REACT LIKE THIS TO HIS MARSEILLES COACH. HE SHOULDNT EVEN APOLOGIZE. GFA SHOULD SUSPEND HIM FOR 1 GAME.

  60. GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

    • baba ghana says:

do you what it means by substituting a professional passionate footballer not a angry footballer who want to make earns from playing football.Dede love playing and always thinks he can do more on the field so my friend understand him.

  61. Francozola says:

I think he should forget everything and apologise because your country is your everything

  62. baba ghana says:

Dede is the best player ghana have now. if he really did it then the coach must have verbally conversation. but Ghanaians we talk too much. The name ABEDI AYEW PELE will live forever so guys let us learn to live with it. Even Asamoah gyan u guys are praising him for nothing he is doing for stars team
