Amponsah-Karikari powers AIK Stockholm in Europa League

Posted On Friday, 31st August 2012

Kwame Karikari is joined by his AIK team-mates to celebrate his opener

Ghana youth striker Kwame Amponsah-Karikari scored to help AIK Stockholm eliminate Russian giants CSKA Moscow from the Europa League with a 2-0 win.

Karikari stunned the home crowd with a fabulous strike on six minutes after collecting a pass from Swedish-born Ghanaian Robin Quaison at the Arena Khimki.

AIK needed victory to stand a chance of qualifying to the Group stage after losing the first leg 1-0 in Stockholm a fortnight ago.

The game appeared to be heading for extra time but Martin Lorentzon scored late to secure victory for AIK.

Midfielder Ibrahim Moro watched the entire game from the AIK bench while Robin Quaison was replaced after 68 minutes.

This chap has been banging in the goals this season, he is the second highest Ghanaian scorer in Europe after Majeed Waris with 10 or so goals I think. And scoring against a top team like CSKA Moscow is no fluke,I think A.A should consider looking at him.
