Rio Ave midfielder Alhassan Wakaso wants to emulate his senior brother Mubarak who has made impact in Europe.

Alhassan has featured in all six matches played in the Portuguese Primeira Liga since joining them during the just ended transfer window.

His elder brother Mubarak had successful spells with Villarreal and Espanyol in the Spanish La Liga before moving to Russian side FC Rubin Kazan.

The 21-year-old told Goal.com: "I want to reach the level of my brother Mubarak who plays for Rubin Kazan in Russia.

"I want to work hard and help Rio Ave to grab a Europa League place at the end of the season.

"I think I have achieved my space in the team with my warrior attitude and adaptation just like the fishing men who are real warriors in their work in this city.”

"I always want to have freedom in midfield and cover the back four well not to allow more goals."

Alhassan Wakaso moved to Portugal in 2010 and signed for Portimonense.
