Alhaji Gruzah, Osei-Kuffour to lead discussions for Ayew bros' swift return

The Ayew brothers have decided to retire from the Ghana national team

By Ameenu Shardow

King Faisal President Alhaji Karim Gruzah will be embarking on a personal initiative to have the Ayew brothers rescind their decision to retire from the Black Stars.

The Olympique Marseille duo; Andre and Jordan, slapped in letters on Tuesday to prematurely call time on their international career.

The shocking move by the sons of Ghana legend Abedi Pele has split opinions amongst fans of the four-time African champions.

While others believe their decision ought to be respected and be left alone, others insist their return is crucial for the success of the Black Stars in upcoming assignments.

Alhaji Gruzah who is a long-standing friend of the Ayew family, aided by ex Ghana international Samuel Osei-Kuffour and Mighty Jets owner Abu Sodonko (all friends of the family) will however hold discussions with the celebrity family to trash out the concerns raised by the two players.

“If God permits, myself, Samuel Osei-Kuffour and Abu of Mighty Jets will be going to discuss the issues towards reconciliation,” Gruzah told Kumasi-based Fox FM.

“We want a quick resolution to this issue in the interest of Ghana.”

Both players were not part of the Ghana squad that finished a disappointing fourth at the just ended Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

  1. Last year we all witness the Afcon and with the inclusion of the ayew brothers we got to the same stage, why are we pamparing this players like that, and i believe that GFA and management team should take a firm decision to oust this players to serve as a deterrent to other players who are unpatrotic to the nation, and i do believe that Abedi pele was contacted by the children b4 taken such decision and it should mark in to affect him when he is vying for national team coaching job. Ayew shouldn be given any leadership role in the national team, becos a good leader should set a good example to his leaders.thanks, from francis atta gyasi, johannesburg.

Massa! the fourth we finished this time was a pure serendipity! pure luck!! beating CHEAP teams with FAKE penalties! Last year asamoah Gyan missed a CLEAN penalty in the game against Zambia! before the zambians gained confidence! Last year we battled better team, played better football! Do not compare last year with this year! I don’t have time to continue, if u want more I will give you more! think massa!

  2. John says:

Ghana is the only nation in the world which has top players, playing at top clubs, in top leagues who are all in “semi retirement”. Instead of people asking questions on what is going on with our Nation team people tend to bash these boys and thier father.

    • Rhetelly says:

OK John, Our national team has be improving through the last decade and I think people will agree that, the players are more committed than ever because they are being treated good. That is not to say your question about the national team should not be asked.

      My question to you

Why do these young retired players fall in the category of players who have switched allegiance to play to Ghana?

In my opinion if Ghanaian players decide to retire and people feel the need to get them to change their mind because they feel no one in the country has their talent these players possess, then, please wake up!!!!

  3. marshal says:

yes its true that we finished the same position last year as this year, but be honest we lost to zambia out of ill luck, but this year we got to that stage out of good luck so ask yourself, if fortune was not against us last year who could have stoped us? the Ayews remains a soccer dynasty in ghana and we need to respect that.
we should rather peruse theproblem and find out why several players apart of asamoah gyan whose case was out of fear of being criticised retire prematurely.

AND TO ATTA GYASI I THINK YOU ARE JUST A NOVIST IN FOOTBALL SO SHUT UP AND LETS US DO THE TALKING.

  4. Troy says:

@ Marshal I also think @Atta Gyasi is a fool. From his own Examples Asamoah Gyan shouldn’t be the captain of the Team. Because he cost the Team more than he helps it. And he also quit, he returned and was given the captains band.

  6. Collins says:

We shd find out de root cause of de various retirements & address. I think dat ‘ll help.

  7. Don Justy says:

Ooo nooo! Pls with all due respect, Alhaji Gruzah, and Sammy Tugah, if u do dat u’ll be setting a bad precedence which will lead to a bad precedence and will lead to chaos. Some1 too will say he was not called, while he deserved it n is also quitting. Come to think of it, jordan is not even a regular for b.s, and he has d audacity with impunity to demand an automatic start? Dede was subtituted the other day in a match n he threw trantrums n was asked to appologised later. Doesn’t the coach has the right to choose players according to his strategies? What if they’re dropped 2morrow? This stupid ego thing shd’nt be entertained. Its disgusting n preposterous to say the least… gosh…

  9. Tanko says:

I THINK AA SHOULD HAVE STEPPED DOWN AFTER THE AFCON. HE MUST STEP DOWN NOW. COACHES ARE LIKE FISHES, AFTER A WHILE, THEY STINK!!! BESIDES, AA IS NOT A QUALIFIED COACH ANYWAY! SELLAS TETTEH IS THE MAN EVEN BEFORE IT WAS GIVEN TO AA

  10. mojahadine says:

This is bullshit, are you guys seriously falling for this nonsense?, this is the exact response these Ayew brothers are looking for, to be treated like soccer royalty? hell no. Can they help the Black Stars? yes, but not to the extent of any assurances. Why is everyone trying to beg these guys to play? Are they the only players in Ghana that can play their positions?

For Ghana to build a resilient team, the country needs to stand up to these uneducated idiots who can’t even read nor write and kick them to the curve, let these players know the Black Stars can do without them.

These guys are looking to be put on a pedestal and assured of their permanent position on the Black Star team no matter what? For God’s sake why can’t the GFA let them retire so others like Jeffery Schlupp can play.

This is mind boggling. This country, Ghana has a very big problem. A country of so many skilled players at their positions and trying to beg them to play, when the begging has to be the other way around? I cannot believe this.

Now the Ghana Black Stars, GFA are in the business of begging players to play?, what a sad state of affairs.

  11. marshall says:

@mojahadine are you serious at all? a player on trial at man untd be favoured ahead of tried and tested players, we all saw what happened when we thought in the absence of ANDRE AYEW , christian atsu can fit but we all saw it was a disaster this is no time for lottery, lets face reality and besides if you watch football at all, JO AYEW is ghana’s striking future and ANRE AYEW is the best player THE BLACK STARS have now.

    • mojahadine says:

Marshall, how did the Ayew brothers end up in the Black Star team. They were tried by a coach that wanted to take risks.

This is why I said in my past comments about the Ghanaian mentality, always looking for ready-made goods, we never manufacture anything. Just look at Nigeria, they took that risk with local untested players and what did they get? less drama and players that wanted to shock the world, and they did shock the world with an AFCON title.

On the other hand, Ghana is still depending on the same old ready-made goods that are inferiorly made and never last long.

The last time we went to the AFCON finals we did that with lots of untested players for Christ sake.

Are you kidding me that this Jo Ayew is Ghana’s striking future? You must be dreaming.

      • MUSAH FIFA says:

and to you Mujahadine,we should rely on Asamoah Gyan or who? for God sake why do you hate Ayew family?

        • mojahadine says:

I don’t hate the Ayews, infact I admire them. But what I cannot stand is individuals who try to take hostage of our national team.

Hell no not Asamoah Gyan, I can assure you that if Akwesi Appiah has his scouts doing their job well they would have found a good striker for the BS. He is lazy and looking for easy way out. lem him Call Jeffery Schlupp.

  12. selfmade says:

Instead of ghanaians questioning this useless nyantakyi administration,we always blaming the coach and replacing coaches!! The problem is not with the coaches, the players but with this pot belly assholes calling themselves administrators!!! Can’t ghanaians see that this nyantakyi of a guy cant win us titles!!! Nobody should get me wrong because though he has done extremely well as gfa president,i think he lacks motivation now and he has become corrupt too and is about time,he moves on so that another fresh blood takes over!! Is about time,we look critically at this administration rather than the coaches or the players!!! Viva the revolutioncioooooooooooooooo!!!

  13. Don says:

I don’t understand some people on this forum, they talk as if God didn’t bless them with any brains, we need to be honest with ourselves, first it was KPB, A Gyan and now the Ayew’s and yet people are talking crap and insulting this boys, the whole GFA and the coach must be dissolve with immediate effect, they have nothing better to offer the nation, there is serious issue’s at the GFA, how can Kwesi Nyantakye be the president of the FA, and the chairman of the black stars management committee, is he the only one who has the brains to run football in Ghana? beside who write the black stars report after a tournament and who reads it and effect changes if there is any? only in Ghana that this bullshit can happen. Some people have hijacked the black stars as it their personal property.

  14. RAS says:

I think from the comments of haters here, it is really a crime in Ghana to come from a well established and endowed family.. instead of looking at the root cause of all these retirements, ple are quick to insult and vilify these brothers. what sacrifices haven’t these guys made for Ghana?

  15. mukmin says:

@ mojahadine your hatred for Jordan and Dede is clouding your judgement the course of action these young men have taken has forced more scrutiny on the GFA and technical team which everyone was calling for

  16. mukmin says:

@ mojahadine your hatred for Jordan and Dede is clouding your judgement the course of action these young men have taken has forced more scrutiny on the GFA and technical team which everyone was calling for the players are revolting this is the only way to root out corruption, use the Arab spring as an analogy. Also if you tell me Jordan is currently not our best striker it mean you don’t watch much European football u should start subscribing to some sports channels depending on where u live. If a good coach like Milo had him he would definitely get the best out of him. It’s better to watch ligue 1 and OM before u make some of the comments you’re making. He’s ahead of players like Lacazette of Lyon and Kakuta who are his peers.
