Ghana winger Albert Adomah was one of the standout performers for Middlesbrough on Tuesday night but he skied the 30th spot kick of the night as Middlesbrough crashed out of the English League Cup after losing 14-13 to Liverpool in a dramatic marathon penalty shoot-out tie.

The 27-year-old expertly slammed home his first kick from the spot during the shoot-outs to give a Middlesbrough a 4-3 lead but when he stepped up to take his second in the sequence, he skied the ball leaving Boro to exit the competition.

Adomah head been leading the Boro charge at Anfield as they frustrated an already troubled Liverpool side, holding them to a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

Adam Reach, who missed his kick during regulation time had scored to ensure the game trek down to extra-time but Liverpool took a lead during extra-time but a brilliant moment inspired by Adomah won a penalty for Middlesbrough and Patrick Bamford sent the game to penalties with a fantastic finish.
