Louis Agyemang wants to lead AshantiGold to a successful return to African club competitions on his appointment as the new substantive captain of the side.
The 30-year-old was appointed captain of the Miners this week – replacing Fatawu Dauda who has since been sold to South African club Orlando Pirates.
The former Hearts of Oak striker who is honoured with his new appointment now wants to return the side to its glory days as a regular campaigner in Africa.
“I am very honoured and pleased with the honour done me by being named as captain of the side so first and foremost I would like to thank the officials,” he told Metro FM.
“Everyone know how the league is and we have quite a number of new players in the team.
“Confidence is very high and our aim is to go to Africa this season.”
Agyemang will lead his team in their opening Premier League match on Sunday at Heart of Lions.
