Agyemang-Badu named Man-of-the-Match in Ghana win

By Ameenu Shardow

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu was named the official Man-of-the-Match in Ghana’s 1-0 win over Mali on Thursday.

The Udinese midfielder put in a solid display to help the Black Stars clinch their first win at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Agyemang-Badu came close to opening the scoring with a glancing header earlier on in the first half but he was unlucky to see his effort come off the crossbar.

He went on to take other shots at goal and put in vital tackles when needed throughout the game.

His work rate was top notch – which ultimately caught the eye of officials who decided to reward his good works with the prestigious accolade.

The 22-year-old has already made history in the tournament being hosted in South Africa by scoring the tournament’s opening goal in the 2-2 draw with DR Congo.

Well done boys. But imo, gyan is becoming too lazy. He played as if he just finished eating a bowl of fufu with palmnut soup.

    • texas says:

you are right man. I have always supported Gyan but his performance so far is nothing to write home about. May be he is still mourning his Mom’s pass. He lacks energy and sense of urgency. I think he should be rested in the next matches or made to start from bench.

      • Nii Kwatei says:

Because AA made him captain, he now thinks he’s an automatic starter. In my opinion he becomes too comfortable this way, and he doesn’t even try anymore! Let juventus starlet Boakye start the Niger match, just to shake Gyan up out of his dreamland!

No more criticzing my friends. Is time to support the local coach and the team.Local coach will deliver the cup for Ghana.

  4. The DON says:

I think Gyan has lost his hunger for the game….his passion is not like the last world cup…he’s rich already, no need to sweat!!! I pray Boakye Yiadom recovers in time, i feel he shd start our next match and Gyan comes on as an impact sub….i like the Asare guy too..he showed real hunger and energy when he came on..reminded me of a younger Anthony Annan!!

  5. ahoofe says:

Can Essien be compare with this guy? I’m telling you thid guy is the greatest football player in the continent now

  6. Black Star says:

Agyemang Badu is a Beast! This guy is too exceptional. Getting goals too. Very impressed with his positioning, through passes n his hunger for goal. Won’t be surprised if he joins a Top Club in England soon.

  7. Adam...Ghana says:

yal friends, the least talks about Gyan the better, its about time we GH people realised he’s got nothing new ‘n exceptional for ghanaians anymore..let’s allow him to do his own thing on the field slowly till we finally kick him out of the team…but no insults please

  8. kwame pito says:

I am glad some of you has finally started noticing the immense talent we have in Agyemang Badu. I realised this ages ago… if Ghana will achieve anything in world football, it will come from majority of the U20 squad that won the world cup captained by DeDe. These chaps inclusive of Badu are workaholics and focused and they have carried it into senior level. They are cool headed, aggressive and absolutely NO “tirimud3″. These are the guys to win a worldcup for ghana probably. Dede ayew and his cohorts when their time come and they fully take over. Badu, david addy, dede andre, dominic adiyiah(another workaholic but needs to work on his precision shot). Add other workaholics like wakaso amd adomah. GOD BLESS THE GBSTARS. by the way I think this current squad is capable of winning the Afcon despite. Jah bless.

  9. Regan says:

As i was sayin ,it was 4abut 30yrs now since we won this cup n am tellin de nation dat dey shud hve fath in god n pray 4our team 2 win de cup n i bet u ghana is goin 2 win dis cup.amen!!!
